A Romance In Passing Chapter 19

“William, let it go.”

Kenny and the others stood in the hospital room, exchanging heavy glances as they watched William clench his jaw in frustration. Their expressions were clouded, not just with concern, but with disappointment.

After returning from Fremoria and learning everything William had done to Emily, they found themselves struggling to believe that their longtime friend had once been that kind of man.

“She has a new boyfriend now. It’s over, man. Let her go,” one of them said flatly.

Another voice cut through the tension with fury “Damn it, William! You’re a complete asshole! To think that I actually felt bad for you and stood up for you! Emmy’s such a good woman. You deserve everything you get for breaking her heart!”

The situation spiraled fast. A few of the guys tried to hold him back, but he shrugged them off and stormed out, kicking the hospital room door open with a loud bang

“From this day on, we’re no longer friends!”

William watched everything unravel silently. Then, he turned away and stared out the window.

Everyone followed after the shouting friend, except for Kenny, who remained behind, frozen.

Jewilliam

“William… you messed up. Badly. Emmy’s moved on, man. She’s living a new life now. There’s no going back.”

Kenny let out a long sigh, as if letting go of something inside himself too. Without another word, he walked out, never looking back.

Left alone in the ward, William stared at the ceiling blankly. Then suddenly, he snapped.

He swept every monitor and piece of equipment in a violent outburst. The machines crashed to the floor.

“Ahh!” he screamed, trembling. His bloodshot eyes burned with grief and rage.

Nurses rushed in, trying to restrain him. It took a few doctors and nurses to hold him down and cuff him to the bed.

Tears streamed down his face. He had nothing lett. He had lost Emily–the only woman who had ever truly loved him. He’d thrown away eight years of love with his own hands. His friends, once like brothers, now looked at him with scom.

Trembling, he punched the mattress.

If it weren’t for Aria, none of this would’ve happened. He made sure she would pay for it.

Once discharged, William returned to the office, limping with a crutch. He wasn’t fully recovered, but it didn’t matter. Work had piled up in his absence, but he barely noticed. His mind was elsewhere.

He stood by the windows of his office, staring down at the city below. Then, he picked up his phone and dialed a familiar number.

The call connected instantly “William!”

Aria’s voice sounded both relieved and desperate. After months of silence, she no longer sounded sweet, Instead, there was a note of pleading in her tone.

“William, thank God. I’ve been waiting for you to call. I’m so sorry. I was wrong. Please forgive me…” She sniffled softly, her voice soaked in guilt

William gritted his teeth at the sound of her fake cries. He narrowed his eyes, but his voice stayed calm and gentle. “I’ve been thinking a lot. If Emily wants to end things with me… maybe it’s time I stop fighting it.”

“Yes, of course! I’ll do anything you want. Should I come to the office? Or the villa? Just say the word, William.” Her voice turned soft and syrupy again, like she thought she had him right back where she wanted.

“What about tomorrow at 5:00pm? Let’s meet at the fishing village and catch up there.”

Aria gasped slightly. “You want to go back there?”

She agreed to it immediately.

After ending the call, William stood by the window, eyes cast down at the city far below.

“Aria, it’s time we settle the score,”

With that, he turned and left the office,

The next afternoon, William pulled up to the edge of the fishing village right on time. Aria was already there, waiting.

She wore a flowing white dress, carefully styled to appear soft and sweet. Her look was delicate, almost nostalgic. It was as if she had walked out of a memory, trying to recreate the image she wore the day they first met.

Maybe it was because of what William had said on the phone the day before, about wanting to “revisit old times“. Maybe she thought this was her second chance.

From a distance, she spotted him parked his car and dragged a suitcase behind him.

Her eyes lit up. She ran toward him with a bright smile, practically glowing with joy as she reached for his arm.

“William, I missed you so much.”

William fought back the disgust rising in his throat. He forced a smile onto his face like slipping on a mask.

“Come on. Let’s go see where we used to stay.”

“Really? Sure!” Aria beamed, linking her arm through his. She thought her lost romance with William had just been rekindled.

William watched her excited figure and silently tightened his grip on the handle of his suitcase.
