It’s Been a While, My Ex Alpha Ch 1
I took on a playboy–the future Alpha, Carlos Vellin. Everyone thought I was hopelessly in love with him.
He got into fights and skipped class while I took notes for him.
He flirted with other girls, and I covered for him.
For three years, I played the fool, pouring my energy into helping him get into Golden University. And just before school started, he dumped me.
He said with a usual air of superiority, “I know you’ve liked me for a long time, but your head’s always buried in books. Compared to Leia Gresley, you’re just too dull. Let’s break up–I want to be with her.”
Everyone was waiting for me to fall apart.
I glanced at my bank account, where an extra eight million dollars had just landed, and sincerely said, “Alright. Congratulations.”
No one ever knew–I never loved him. I was just doing my job. His mother paid more than enough.
Now that the money was in my hands, it was time to walk away.
“She just got dumped by the future Alpha, and all she said was congratulations?!”
“She hung up in less than a minute. So calm–do you think she’s lost her mind from heartbreak?”
“She doesn’t look upset. If anything, she seems relieved, like she’s been waiting for this.”

Someone shot a nervous glance at Carlos. He had his new girlfriend in his arms, but his handsome face was dark with annoyance.
They quickly changed their tune. “Ivory’s been head over heels for Mr. Vellin for years—everyone knows it. There’s no way she doesn’t care. She must be holding it in.”
“I bet she’ll come crawling back to him in less than three days, begging him not to leave her!”
Carlos’s scowl softened a bit. “If she comes back and apologizes, maybe I’ll forgive her. Let’s see what she does.”
I had no idea about their little discussion. I was already dragging my
suitcase to the train station.
Even if I’d heard their mocking words, I would’ve just given a cold, indifferent smile.
My parents always thought I was useless.
They tore up my college acceptance letter and left the pieces in shreds. My alcoholic father beat me half to death. That’s when Carlos’s mother found me and made her offer-
If I could get Carlos into Golden University, she’d cover my high school tuition and give me eight million dollars.
I never wanted to chase after Carlos, never wanted to be his obedient, ever–faithful doormat.
For three long years, I did whatever it took to turn that rebellious slacker into a straight–A student, and finally got him into Golden University.
Now that I’d succeeded, I could finally take the money and leave. I was overjoyed–why would I be heartbroken just because he found a new girlfriend?

From the very beginning, all I wanted was to claw my way out of hell and carve out a future of my own.
Love had nothing to do with it.
When the semester started, I didn’t show up at the university where I’d been accepted.
My parents would never let me go that easily.
If I were leaving, I had to disappear for good.
Over the summer, I earned a scholarship from the Stone Pack.
As I boarded my flight, Carlos texted, trying to make peace.
“Why did you block me everywhere?
“Ivory, are you still mad after all this summer? Even if I’m with Leia now, we’re still friends. Stop being dramatic and take me off your block list.”
Every word dripped with that classic Alpha arrogance.
He was so sure I’d come crawling back, just like the past three years–no matter how he trampled my feelings, I’d always wag my tail and return.
I pulled out my phone’s SIM card, snapped it in two, and tossed it in the airport trash.
Along with it, I threw away every scrap of humiliation, calculation, and memory I’d ever had.
The plane soared into the sky, erasing everything I’d left behind.
