Later, my best friend told me that Carlos had been leaving comments under all my social media accounts.
The messages were all the same. “Are you done with your tantrum yet?” “It was just a breakup–do you really have to be this dramatic?” “Hurry up and add me back!”

She said, “At first, Carlos was sure you’d come crawling back. But when you didn’t, he started getting more and more irritable. Sometimes, just hearing your name would make him scowl.”
Listening to her, it felt like she was talking about someone else’s life. Nothing about it stirred me in the slightest.
With the eight million dollars Carlos’s mother gave me, I started over at Stone Pack.
I chose one of the top design schools, threw myself into a heavy workload.
Everything was a new challenge, but there was no Carlos to impress, no suffocating family to endure–just sketchbooks, blueprints, and endless dreams for the future.
Years slipped by in a blur.
Through sweat and talent, my jewelry designs began to shine at major fashion weeks, even winning a few prestigious awards.
Eventually, as the newly appointed chief designer for Lumina, I was sent back to Moonlit Pack to oversee this new market.
My first day back in Moonlit Pack.

I was grabbing lunch at the restaurant downstairs from the branch office when a hesitant voice sounded behind me. “Ivory? Is that you?”
I turned around and saw a vaguely familiar face.
It was Selene Arnell, the girl who used to sit in front of me in high school.
Her eyes widened as she looked me up and down, completely unfiltered, full of surprise and disbelief.
“Oh my god! It really is you! You’ve changed so much!”
The timid, eager–to–please girl from high school was long gone. Time and experience had given me a quiet confidence.
“It’s been a while.”

“There’s actually a class reunion tonight, just upstairs at Cloudtop Restaurant. Tons of people are coming even Alpha Carlos! You have to come! Seriously, no one’s going to recognize you!”
Carlos?
That name felt like a distant echo, something I hadn’t thought about in
ages.
I was about to politely decline, but then I realized–there was no reason to avoid anything anymore.
“Sure.”
The whole day was a blur of meetings and handovers at the new company. I was so busy I barely touched the ground.

By the time I remembered the reunion, it was nearly time.
I pushed open the heavy door, and a wave of noise and laughter hit me.

The private room was huge, the massive round table crowded with people.
My eyes swept the room, and almost instantly, I locked onto the man at the head of the table, surrounded by admirers.
Carlos.

He looked more mature than he had in high school, his features sharper, dressed in an expensive, casual suit. He lounged with effortless ease, always the center of attention.
Next to him sat a young, beautiful woman–her makeup flawless, her outfit bold. But she wasn’t Leia.

After a brief hush, a drunk guy was the first to recognize me.
“Holy shit! Look, Alpha! Your old lapdog, Ivory, just showed up!”
His shout sent a ripple through the room.
Everyone’s eyes snapped toward me–some surprised, some amused, all eager for drama.
Carlos’s head jerked up. The moment he saw me standing in the doorway, his pupils shrank.
The lazy confidence on his face vanished, replaced by shock and a tangle of emotions I couldn’t quite read.
The girl beside him immediately noticed his reaction. She tightened her grip on his arm, eyeing me with suspicion and hostility.
