“I never had anything inappropriate with Shay. Why wouldn’t Jael believe me? Quitting her job, breaking up… she’s making all the decisions. I need to ask her myself. How could she go this far?”
“You’re going to see Jaelynn now? I’ll come with you,” Logan said, grabbing his suit jacket and heading out.
Javon’s breathing was rapid, almost choking out the words. “Jaelynn has been under my care since she was a child. I know her. She won’t change, and she can’t. What belongs to me will never escape my control.”
“Javon, calm down. Are you even driving?”
A sudden screech of brakes came over the phone.
Logan’s face turned pale. “Javon!”
At the intersection, the black Maybach collided with a turning vehicle, leaving chaos in its wake.
The next day, after the apprenticeship ceremony, Jaelynn and Gloria headed to register their studio.
*Cosmos Vista is such a great name. I’ll design a logo when I get back. Thanks for overseeing the studio renovation these past few days. Once the villa workspace is ready, I’ll continue learning from Ms. Walton and start conceptualizing new pieces,” Jaelynn said.
Despite the heavy rain, her umbrella barely slowed her determined steps.
“Sounds like a solid plan. I can’t wait to see

“He’s at the hospital, very agitated. You need to come quickly.”
Jaelynn’s movements froze for a moment.
Javon wanted to see her? What did that have to do with her?
It was his choice, and he was the one driving.

“Logan, Javon’s situation has nothing to do with me. He has people taking care of him at the hospital,” Jaelynn said, taking a deep breath to steady herself.
Without waiting for a response, she hung up.
Back at the villa, the decorators were busy setting up her workspace.
Gloria had impeccable taste, so Jaelynn didn’t interfere.
Once her work was done, she still had many unopened packages at home, steadily arranging everything to her liking.
The doorbell rang
Jaelynn opened it, surprised to see Logan and Talon standing there.
“I got your address from Marcus,” Logan said.
Without beating around the bush, he continued, “Jaelynn, I know there have been misunderstandings between you and Javon. I’m not here to mediate or pressure you. I just want you to visit him at the hospital.
“The doctor says Javon hit his head and needs to rest, but he keeps trying to leave to find you. You don’t want anything to happen to him, do you?*

Talon turned and pointed to the car, saying, “We came to pick you up personally. Please, just go.”
Jaelynn lowered her gaze, brows knitting in mild exasperation.
“I already told you on the phone. His problems have nothing to do with me.”
Her words left no room for argument.
Logan softened his voice, trying to persuade. “I get it, you’re angry. Javon was wrong, but after all these years together, and with the wedding coming up, it shouldn’t have to be like this.
“Jaelynn, please, just go see him. I’m begging you.”
Gloria, who could no longer stay silent inside the villa, stepped out sharply.
“Is Javon dead? Are you inviting Jael to his funeral?”
Her tone was cutting.
“If he wants to confess his guilt before he dies, that won’t be necessary, Jael doesn’t have time for that. And if he’s already dead, I’ll pop champagne to celebrate. Want to stay and have a drink with me?”
