Chapter 9 Set her up on a blind date.
When Scarlett Adler returned home, a table full of food was already waiting for her.
As soon as she walked in, Fourth Adler rushed towards her, “Scarlett, you’re back!”
However, just when she thought a big hug was coming, Fourth suddenly stopped, frowned, and looked her up
and down. “Mom, your outfit today is really ugly!”
Scarlett Adler was speechless.
No wonder her taste had improved so quickly over the years; she had a daughter who was too picky and took
care of all her needs.
“No, I think it looks great!” First Adler walked over. In his eyes, his mom was the most beautiful woman.
Who knew Fourth would give him a disgusted look. “What do you straight guys know!”
First Adler was speechless.
“The thing is, I think it’s pretty good too!” Second Adler said, “Fair skin, beautiful face, long legs, all-natural. It
wouldn’t be an exaggeration to become a star!”
“Two straight guys!” Fourth complained.
“Alright, alright, your mom is tired after a long day. Let’s eat first and talk while we eat,” William Adler called
from behind.
“Grandpa loves me the most!” Scarlett said, taking off her heels and walking inside. “I’m going to wash my
hands and change my clothes first.”
After changing her clothes, Scarlett Adler came out to find her three little ones already seated at the dining
table, waiting for her obediently.
Actually, as long as they were healthy and safe, Scarlett would be content.
She walked over, sat down, and said, “Let’s eat.”

William glanced at Scarlett, but didn’t say anything.
“Mommy, how’s work at your company? Is it tiring?” First asked.
“It’s okay, not much different from being abroad, not tiring,” Scarlett replied.
“Mommy, are there any handsome guys at your company?”
As soon as he spoke, Scarlett knew what he was up to and shook her head. “No.”
“A big company without even one handsome guy? Our school is better,” Fourth said, suddenly realizing something. “Mommy, there’s a school principal at our school, young, promising, and handsome. He looks a bit like Trevor Noah. Mommy, do you want to meet him?”
William listened for a while before understanding that these three clever kids were trying to set Scarlett up with a boyfriend.
Scarlett didn’t refuse. “Really? Maybe I’ll go take a look one of these days.”
“I’ve already found out all about him. He’s only had one girlfriend before, but she married a foreigner and moved away two years ago. He’s currently single and keeps himself clean,” Fourth said.
She smiled. “I’ve also found out the principal’s criteria for a partner. Mommy fits them all perfectly. Although he doesn’t have any specific requirements for appearance, I think Mommy exceeds his expectations.”
Second Adler looked at Fourth Adler. “No wonder you’re always hanging around the principal. So that’s why.”
“What else? Did you think I was like you guys, just knowing how to play?” Fourth Adler rolled his eyes at him.
First Adler thought for a moment. “The principal is indeed a good person, a gentleman, handsome, and with a good personality.”
Having been assessed by First, he was definitely a good man.
Scarlett Adler was intrigued by what they said. “Then tomorrow, I’ll pick you up tomorrow and meet this

principal you’re praising so much. Fourth, you’re responsible for bringing him out, understand?”
“Yes, ma’am!”
Watching Scarlett Adler interact with the children, William Adler found it a bit unconventional but also
amusing.
Their relationship didn’t seem like that of a mother and sons, but more like friends.

After dinner, the three kids asked to do the chores. William Adler was initially worried, but seeing how skilled
they were, he remembered Scarlett Adler saying that the three of them took care of her daily life when they
were abroad, so he let them try.
In the living room, William Adler walked over to her, asking, “What’s wrong? Something on your mind?”
Scarlett Adler didn’t hide anything. “Hugo Hodges came to see me today and asked about the child.”
Hearing this, William Adler paused. “And then?”
“I lied to him and said the child was gone.”
“He believed you?”
“For now, yes, but I don’t think I can hide it for long!”
William Adler suddenly remembered something. “I forgot to tell you, after you left, Hugo Hodges somehow found out you were pregnant and came to see me!”
Scarlett Adler looked at William Adler in surprise.
“At the time, I didn’t even know you were pregnant, and I even scolded him,” William Adler said. “But from the way he looked, he seemed pretty anxious.”
Scarlett Adler’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “Whether he’s anxious about the child or about being deceived is anyone’s guess. Besides, even if he had known at the time, it wouldn’t have changed anything. Maybe he would have agreed to the child’s birth, but I didn’t want the child to live in his shadow.”
William Adler didn’t want to dwell on Hugo Hodges’ past misdeeds, as there was no way to excuse them.
Instead, he asked, “So, what do you plan to do?”
Scarlett Adler smiled. “Grandpa, it won’t be easy for him to find evidence. I just wanted to warn you in case he
comes looking for you. I want you to be prepared!”
William Adler nodded. “I understand.” Speaking of which, he sighed, “Old Hodges has been asking me to play
chess lately, but I haven’t dared to go.”
“I appreciate it, Grandpa,” Scarlett Adler said.
“There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for my family. It’s just that Old Hodges and I have been friends for so many
years, and I’m afraid he’ll see through me.”
Scarlett Adler smiled. “If I can resolve things with Hugo Hodges peacefully, I’ll take the kids to visit Grandpa
Hodges with you!”
“Old Hodges dedicated his whole life to the Hodges family, and that good-for-nothing Hugo Hodges ruined his
happiness in his old age!” William Adler lamented, feeling indignant on behalf of his friend.
Scarlett Adler smiled but didn’t say anything more.
Meanwhile,
Tiana Young had hired someone to investigate Scarlett Adler’s background, but after searching for a long
time, they couldn’t find anything.
“How is it possible that you can’t find anything?” Tiana asked in disbelief.
“We’re not sure either. We think that unless someone deliberately erased her information, our skills would have uncovered everything about her past by now.”
Tiana didn’t believe that Scarlett had that much power, but this matter wasn’t so simple.
“You’re not trying to ask for more money by telling me this on purpose, are you?”
