No Mercy, No Forgiveness Novel Ch 38
Maureen had worked relentlessly all these years, caring for two children and Zoe, terrified of failing them.
Now her earnings could comfortably support the family.
Why would she sell her composition to Andrea for money?
Back home, Maureen set her phone aside and sank into the bathwater, thinking how to retrieve it fastest.
Maureen was so exhausted that she dozed off in the bathtub.
Her friend Katherine’s call startled her awake.
“Reenie, I’m coming back in a couple of days.”
Maureen wrapped herself in a robe. “I’ll throw you a welcome party when you’re back.”
“Great.
How are you holding up?
Has Geoffrey been giving you trouble?
And that hypocrite Andrea–does she know you’re back?”
Katherine sounded genuinely concerned.
“Andrea hasn’t found out yet, but she will soon.”
Maureen walked to the window, summer breeze warm against her skin. “As for Geoffrey… don’t worry, he can’t touch
me.”
The doorbell rang mid–conversation.
Nine o’clock–who’d visit this late?
Justin wasn’t around, and Maureen felt uneasy.
He’d insisted on standing guard, but she’d sent him home to rest after his nonstop protection duty.
She headed downstairs and checked the doorbell camera–her breath caught.
What was he doing here?
Geoffrey stood at the doorstep, his tall frame silhouetted under the streetlamp, features carved in aloofness.
Well, if he’d delivered himself to her doorstep…

She opened the door.
Maureen wore only a loose white bathrobe, damp hair cascading over her shoulders as she leaned against the door- frame, her eyes soft and alluring.
“I wondered who’d visit so late.
Mr. Sutton, what brings you here?”
Geoffrey stared at her, momentarily stunned.
This version of Maureen seemed worlds apart from the reserved woman he once knew.
For reasons he couldn’t grasp, he suddenly burned to uncover what had reshaped her over the years.
“To tell you how our paths crossed,” Geoffrey murmured, narrowing his eyes as if piercing through her very soul.
His intense gaze made sweat bead in Maureen’s palms. She forced herself to stay calm. “Surely you won’t explain this standing outside, Mr. Sutton?”
In one swift motion, Geoffrey pinned her against the wall, slamming the door shut behind them.
The air grew thin instantly.
Before Maureen could speak, her back pressed to the cold surface, his mouth captured hers. Then he scooped her up entirely.
Her fingers involuntarily clenched.
Geoffrey sensed her stiffness, his large hand enveloping hers as his urgent, possessive kiss deepened.
Maureen’s back went rigid, her mind fiercely suppressing the urge to resist.
Ethan and Jacob were waiting for her back home…
She resolved to comply, hoping to conceive quickly.
With that thought, she responded clumsily.
Geoffrey paused briefly, his furrowed brow smoothing as he tore open his collar and unbuckled his belt.
The fresh scent of Maureen’s recent shower filled his nostrils, accelerating his pulse. Unable to restrain himself, he laid her on the living room sofa and pulled open her robe.
Maureen’s palms grew damper.
She kept her eyes fixed on the warm ceiling light, unable–or unwilling–to look at Geoffrey. Unbidden images flooded her mind: those countless photos Andrea had sent her, each capturing intimate moments between Andrea and Geof- frey.
Andrea’s taunting voice echoed: “Reenie, has Geoff ever said he loves you?

He told me all the time.”
Feeling the searing heat of his body closing in, Maureen parted her lips:
“Mr. Sutton, aren’t you worried your screen queen Andrea will give you hell for this?”
Just before the climax, Maureen’s disappointing words made Geoffrey stop.
His icy stare pierced through her: “Maureen!
Are you determined to keep playing dumb with me?”
Maureen grabbed the fallen bathrobe to cover herself: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Watching her movements, Geoffrey recalled that night years ago–the taste still lingered.
His throat tightened as his slender fingers pressed against Maureen’s slightly pale cheek, leaning in slowly.
“Why did you come back this time?”
After vanishing for over four years, he refused to believe she returned without an agenda.
Maureen’s heart pounded violently, terrified Geoffrey might discover the twins.
She forced a smile: “Geoffrey, are you paranoid?
You’re wealthy and powerful, but I don’t need your money. I came back solely to help others like me–born with dis- abilities.”
To prove her point, she tugged at her hearing aid. “You claim to know me? Then you’d remember I’m clinically deaf.”
Geoffrey stared at the device in her palm without speaking, closing the distance until their breaths and heartbeats in- tertwined.
“If you insist we’re strangers… tell me what you and Gareth have been doing these four years.”
His breathing was heavy, warm puffs of air hitting Maureen’s face.
Maureen could almost feel his heartbeat.
Suppressing the shameful memories, she met his gaze: “Mr. Sutton, you’re so curious about my past. Could it be you’ve fallen for me?”
Geoffrey’s chest tightened.
