Maureen had long known she’d loved the wrong man, but never imagined she’d never truly known him at all.
She’d always thought Geoffrey, with his germaphobia, was that unattainable flower–different from other men.

Geoffrey’s Adam’s apple bobbed twice before his hand shot out to grab her chin. “Call me Geoff!”
Maureen froze.
Geoffrey stared deep into her eyes, desperate to confirm whether this woman had truly lost her memory… whether she truly felt nothing for him now!
After a long silence, Maureen spoke slowly. “Geoff.”
The two syllables dropped from her lips, utterly devoid of warmth.
Nothing like the way it used to sound.
Geoffrey remembered–after their wedding, when she’d hug him, murmuring his name tenderly against his skin.
“Geoff… Geoff…”
His lips pressed into a bloodless line. He refused to believe she’d forgotten.
Refused to believe she felt nothing!
He lowered his head, his overwhelming kiss crashing down, brutally crushing back and forth against Maureen’s lips.
Maureen tried to fight back, but Geoffrey gripped both her wrists.
Just then, voices echoed from outside.
“Ms. Rowe, Mr. Sutton is in a business meeting. You can’t go in.”
“I have something urgent to tell Geoffrey! Get out of my way!”
Maureen shoved Geoffrey away.
At that moment, Andrea pushed the door open despite the secretary’s protests.

Seeing Maureen inside, she froze completely.

Andrea had never felt so humiliated.

Maureen wasn’t dead?

Geoffrey approached Maureen again.

Maureen didn’t explain: “Are we close?
I don’t want to talk to you.”
With that, Maureen stepped in her high heels and walked into the elevator.
Leaving Andrea alone outside with an inscrutable expression.
Andrea turned and went to Geoffrey’s office.
Geoffrey saw her come over: “What’s the matter?”
“Brother Geoffrey, I came to explain about today’s news. I didn’t know I was photographed secretly, and the reporter published it online…”

“Maureen, I know you resent me for taking James away, but must you cling to him like this?”
