No Mercy, No Forgiveness Novel Ch 131
She hadn’t been back long, yet this was her fifth hospital visit already.
His phone rang. Wayne’s voice came through: “Boss, the driver who hit her has been taken by James’s people.”
Geoffrey’s eyes turned cold. “Got it.”
“And those bodyguards assigned to Maureen? They’re useless now.”
He hung up.
Earlier today, before the accident, he’d returned to Pearl only to find Maureen missing. The bodyguards tracking her gave a delayed response–that’s when he learned about the crash.
When Geoffrey arrived at the scene, the woman was covered in blood. His heart nearly stopped.
Thankfully, Maureen only had external injuries. She’d fainted from blood loss, nothing life–threatening.
He’d just pulled her through the shattered windshield when James showed up as well.
Geoffrey never figured out how James learned about the accident. At the hospital, while Maureen was in the ER, he discovered the emergency device in her hearing aid.
Her first call after the crash had been to James!
In the hospital bed, Maureen tossed in restless sleep, aching all over.
She dreamed of her father, long–deceased.

Father gently patted her shoulder and said, “My little Reenie has been through so much…”
But this fleeting warmth didn’t last. Father suddenly dissolved into pinpricks of starlight, vanishing before her eyes.
“Dad…” she murmured in her sleep.
Geoffrey didn’t catch her words, thinking she’d woken, and moved closer.
The next moment, Maureen fumbled and seized his hand.
“Dad… don’t go… don’t leave me all alone…”
Tears slid from Maureen’s eyes, seeped into the pillow and vanished.
His large hand gripped tightly in hers, Geoffrey stood frozen beside her bed, a tumult of emotions churning inside.
Afraid to wake her, he didn’t pull away. He remained standing there, unaware how much time had passed.
Clutching his hand, Maureen finally found peace.
When she awoke near dawn, Geoffrey was gone.
A tailored suit jacket lay draped over the snow–white duvet, its sleeve still gripped tightly in her fist.
Maureen took a while to come to her senses, noticing bandages wrapped around her forehead, hands, and legs.
In the early hours, the sky outside was pitch black.
The light in her hospital room remained on. She tilted her head and saw someone slumped beside her in the soft glow.

“Gareth…”
Her pale lips parted slightly.
Gareth slept lightly and woke instantly at the woman’s faint call.
“Awake?
Anywhere still hurting?”
The doctor said her injuries weren’t severe since she’d been in the back
seat.
Maureen shook her head. “The driver…”
“He’s fine too. Got treated in time.”
Gareth replied.
Relieved, Maureen then asked Gareth what happened after she passed
out.
From his account, he’d arrived with people shortly after she fainted.
They caught Frank trying to flee.
“Geoffrey came too. He’s the one who got you to the hospital.”
Gareth didn’t hide that fact.
But he didn’t tell Maureen how Geoffrey had pulled her from the wrecked car. Nor did he mention Geoffrey stayed the whole night, leaving only half an hour before Reenie arrived.
Maureen always knew Geoffrey had bodyguards tailing her.
The driver was also Geoffrey’s man, so learning about the accident came easily to him.

Fortunately, Gareth arrived and scared Frank off, otherwise she really wouldn’t have made it.
Maureen instinctively felt Gareth had arrived before Geoffrey, and that he was the one who’d initially rescued her.
Perhaps loving someone makes you selfish–Gareth never clarified the details with Maureen.
“Geoffrey never allowed me to see you. Does he know you’re guarding me here?”
Maureen asked.
Gareth understood her concern.
“Don’t worry, he knows.”
Gareth and Geoffrey arrived at the hospital one after the other.
While Maureen was in the ER, they maintained a gentlemanly manner on the surface, neither embarrassing the other.
An hour ago, Geoffrey had left on urgent business. Before departing, he stationed numerous bodyguards outside. Everything in the hospital room remained under his surveillance.
He’d know if Gareth and Maureen did anything.
Noticing Maureen’s parched lips, Gareth stood to fetch her warm
water. He held it to her lips: “I’ve had Frank detained.”
“With Justin unavailable, I’ll assign others to protect you.”
After sipping the water, Maureen nodded.
“Yeah, okay.”

Gareth helped her sit up: “My investigation shows the driver who hit you was Frank. He used to run a small business overseas. When Andrea approached him, he was engaged to another woman.”
Frank was crazy about Andrea. He broke off his engagement for her, spent a fortune to make her a pop star, and even wrote songs for her himself.
But later, Frank’s business went bankrupt. With no more money to support Andrea, she chose to return home to pursue her career.
Maureen listened quietly, showing no surprise.
She’d heard about Andrea’s colorful past long ago, though never in such detail.
