Javon’s gloomy mood lifted instantly.
“I’m on my way.”
He quickly changed and headed to the company, hardly realizing how much he was looking forward to Jaelynn’s apology.
When he arrived, Javon paused in the elevator lobby and noticed the VIP elevator wasn’t working.
Almost immediately, Marcus rushed over, his expression serious. “Mr. Bradford, the VIP elevator has malfunctioned. Ms. Norton and Ms.
McDowell are both stuck inside.”

Inside the elevator, Jaelynn’s first reaction was to check the time, worried about delaying the document signing.
Shayla, on the other hand, was frantically kicking the doors.
“Ah! I don’t want to be trapped here! If the elevator falls, we’re done for!”
The metal groaned under her kicks.
Jaelynn frowned and pulled her back. “Do you even know anything about safety? When an elevator malfunctions, you stay calm and wait. Kicking the doors will only make it worse. Now be quiet.”
She pressed the alarm bell.
Shayla hesitated, biting back an argument.
When the call connected, Shayla immediately started complaining, “How are you handling this? Even the VIP elevator can break down? Get
someone to open the doors and rescue me, now!”
The security guard’s calm voice came through. “I’m

Jaelynn turned to Shayla, confusion clear on her face. “Weren’t you supposed to handle the documents?”
“What does that have to do with me? That’s Marcus’s responsibility.”
Shayla didn’t even think twice before shifting the blame.
“Marcus has other tasks. Handling minor internal company matters is your responsibility,” Jaelynn said, irritation clear in her tone.
“I left a list of pending tasks in the office. Didn’t you see it?”
When Shayla first joined the secretarial department, Jaelynn had been assigned to train her.
Back then, any mistakes Shayla made didn’t directly affect Jaelynn.
But now, after Shayla’s blunder had trapped Jaelynn in the elevator, things were very different.
Shayla’s expression shifted, unease flickering across her face.
“I’ve just taken over the secretary role. It’s normal not to be fully adjusted yet. Even Mr. Bradford wouldn’t blame me.”
Jaelynn didn’t want to waste time arguing.
“Call the maintenance department immediately and get this handled.”
“Of course, Ms. Norton.”
Shayla’s glare sharpened. “Jaelynn, you’ve been frequenting the president’s office these past few days. You’re not thinking of going back to the secretarial department, are you?”
