Am Back Ch 25
Chapter 25 I Haven’t Registered Them
Conrad was taken aback. “Are you doing this because you’re
scared I’ll get implicated?”
“Yeah!” Yakira nodded slightly. “You also know that Brayden is
just using the pretense of cooperation to make things difficult
for me.
“He’s doing this to get back at me for leaving after giving him
the divorce papers five years ago.”
Back then, she wrote that he wasn’t good enough in bed just to
vent her anger.
She thought they would never cross paths again.
Brayden was so proud that he surely couldn’t tolerate it.
Because of this, he hadn’t signed the divorce agreement for five
years.
Now that she showed up in Retston, how could he not seek
revenge?
“I’m not afraid,” Conrad said.
Chapter 251 Haven’t Registered Them
Yakira said, “But I am. Now that he knows about Abel, he won’t
let this go easily.
“I’ve already made up my mind. After this cooperation ends, I’ll
take my mom to Peraham for treatment. I’ll also take Abel and
Minnie back. If I leave, he’ll definitely take his anger out on CK
Design Studio.
“Only if I resign will he not be able to make things difficult for
you.
“Conrad, you’ve helped me so much. I don’t know how I would
have gotten through these five years without you. If something
happens to your studio because of me, how can I be at ease?”
Conrad was left speechless.
He knew that Yakira had already made her decision.
“Kira, remember when I told you that a design company in
Greland wanted me to move over there?” Conrad asked.
Yakira thought for a moment and nodded. “I kind of remember.“”
Back then, she was happy for Conrad.
After all, there were more opportunities for growth in Greland.
But later, Conrad turned it down.
Chapter 25 I Haven’t Registered Them
“Let’s go to Greland together. With your design skills, you’ll
surely have a place there,” he suggested.
Conrad’s sudden invitation caught Yakira off guard.
“Brayden’s influence in Zorvar can’t be underestimated. Even if
you go back to Peraham, he can still find you. Aren’t you afraid
he’ll fight you for Abel’s custody? Even if you’re in Peraham, it’s
just as easy for him to try to get custody of Abel,” said Conrad.
Yakira instantly looked grim.
Conrad had a point.
She knew all too well how influential Brayden was.
If Brayden wanted to fight her for Abel’s custody, it would be
easy peasy.
“Kira, come with me to Greland. No matter how powerful
Brayden is, he can’t do whatever he wants there,” Conrad said.
Yakira lowered her eyes and was silent for a long while before
saying, “Conrad, I can’t go to Greland with you.”
“Why not?” Conrad was puzzled. “You still can’t let go of
Brayden?”
“No,” Yakira denied. “I haven’t registered Abel and Minnie yet!”

This was also the reason she paid high tuition fees to send Abel
and Minnie to a private kindergarten.
Private kindergartens didn’t require birth certificate checks.
Conrad looked at her, confused and shocked.
Yakira continued, “When I left, I found out I was pregnant. I
didn’t want the babies at first. After all, I was getting a divorce
from Brayden. The kids born without a father would be hurt.
“But not long after I left, I had a car accident and was in a coma
for months. When I woke up, it was too late to have an abortion,
so I had to give birth.
“The moment they were born, I seemed to see a new direction in
life. The more precious they were, the more afraid I was of
losing them. I left without saying goodbye. I was afraid that if
Brayden investigated and the kids were registered, he would
surely find out, so I kept delaying it.
“Just the other day, I found out that Brayden didn’t sign the
divorce agreement. We’re still legally married. If the kids are to
be registered, I’ll also need Brayden’s approval.”
Back then, her father had asked Brayden to transfer her
registration to his family so that she could break away from the
Wilkinson family and not be implicated.

“What are you going to do then? Keep Abel and Minnie as
unregistered children forever?” Conrad asked.
Yakira shook her head. She had been avoiding this issue for
years.
Previously, Minnie asked her why they didn’t go to a public
kindergarten, which was cheaper. She thought about
registering Abel and Minnie then.
But she kept delaying it until now.
When she found out that Brayden hadn’t signed the divorce
agreement, she was actually a bit relieved that she hadn’t
registered Abel and Minnie yet.
Otherwise, Brayden would have known about Abel and Kira’s
existence long ago.
“Kira, Abel and Minnie are five years old. In two more years,
they’ll be going to elementary school. How can they go to school
without a proper identity?” said Conrad.
Yakira let out a light sigh. As she looked up, she saw Brayden
walking into the restaurant with Patricia and a child.
She smiled, “Brayden won’t drag this out for too long. He’ll
divorce me.”
Chapter 25 I Haven’t Registered Them
“You’re so certain?” Conrad frowned. He thought Kira was
taking a gamble.
He even had a feeling that she hadn’t let go of Brayden.
Yakira said with a smile, “Even if he can drag it out with me, the
people around him can’t afford to wait.”
Conrad was puzzled and followed her gaze.
“He has to give Patricia’s child a proper status,” Yakira said.
Seeing her acting as if nothing had happened, Conrad felt a mix
of emotions. He softly called out, “Kira.”
“I’m fine. Let’s eat,” Kira said as she picked up some food for him
with her fork.
As soon as Patricia came in, she saw Yakira. She stepped in front
to block Brayden’s view and smiled, “Bray, it’s too noisy out
here. Let’s go to a private room.”
“Mommy, Uncle Brayden, I want to play over there,” Polly said
in a babyish voice, pointing in the direction of the slide.
Brayden said gently, “Go ahead.“”
“Yay!” Polly exclaimed excitedly.
Chapter 25 I Haven’t Registered Them
“Polly, be careful,” Patricia cautioned.
Polly ran off toward the slide.
“Since Polly is off playing, let’s just find a random spot where we
can still keep an eye on her,” Brayden said.
Patricia quickly said, “Then let’s sit over there.“”
It was a spot next to the partition, to the left–front of where Kira
and Conrad were.
The partition blocked the view, and since they were in front,
Brayden didn’t notice Yakira and Conrad.
But Yakira could clearly see Brayden and Patricia.
She didn’t want to look at them, yet she couldn’t help but glance
over.
Patricia was very thoughtful, always taking care of Brayden.
They sat together and looked like a perfect match.
Patricia wasn’t an eyecandy. She was elegant. Every move she
made exuded competence and intelligence.
She had that strong, cool vibe like the female leads in TV shows
and novels.

Yet, in the eyes of others, Yakira was just an eye candy.
She only had a pretty face, nothing more.

Her public image painted her as the ultimate mean woman, the
kind who schemed her way to the top and edged out the CEO’s
unforgettable love.
“Kira, if you don’t eat soon, the food will get cold,” Conrad
reminded her.
Yakira pulled her gaze back and buried her head in eating,
trying hard not to pay them any attention.
