Am Back Ch 28
Chapter 28 She Lost It
Yakira frowned and asked, “What do you mean, ‘the payment
won’t be made for a while‘?”
“Ms. Wilkinson, this is your problem. Your uncle refuses to
move, and we can’t start the work without that. How can we
make the payment?” Patricia said, her tone hesitant.
Yakira said, “We agreed that once I signed, the payment would
be made immediately.“”
“I did say that, but now with your uncle’s situation, we’re
helpless,” Patricia responded, her face filled with difficulty.
Yakira knew she was being deliberately difficult.
“Ms. Wilkinson, if you can persuade your uncle and his family
to move out, I will immediately notify the Finance Department
to make the payment,” Patricia said, her voice dripping with
feigned sincerity.
Yakira knew she was being deliberately obstructed.
Patricia knew who Yakira’s uncle was.
“Ms. Wilkinson, do you have anything else to discuss? If not, I

need to get back to work,” Patricia said, abruptly trying to usher
her out.
Yakira clenched her fists and turned to leave.
There was no point in making a scene here.
It was true her uncle refused to leave.
If she caused a fuss, they would just accuse her of being
unreasonable.
Yakira had no choice but to wait for her break to visit Midvale
Village.
This matter had to be resolved sooner or later.
However, before she could go to Midvale Village, Normand and
Cecil stormed into the Blanchard Group.
“We’re looking for Yakira. Get her out here!”
A group of people stood in the lobby of the Blanchard Group,
clearly determined to make a scene until they saw her.
Yakira was summoned down, and Normand and Cecil
immediately surrounded her.
“Kira, you can’t be so heartless! How could you take the house

money for yourself?”
“That’s right, Kira! I’m your uncle! You lived at my place for a
while–have you forgotten?”
Not just them, but their wives and children, everyone joined in,
accusing Yakira.
“Enough!” Yakira’s voice rang out sharply, silencing the room.
“Normand, when your house was flooded, and you had no place
to live, my father kindly let your family stay at our house. I’ve
been away from Retston all these years, and you stayed there without paying a cent. Now you have the nerve to demand part
of the relocation funds?”
Normand was rendered speechless, caught off guard.
Yakira turned to look at Cecil. “And you–before the Wilkinson
Group went bankrupt, how much did you
gain from them?
Have you forgotten? The house you live in now was bought
with my family’s money. When I stayed at your place for a
month, wasn’t it because you wanted my father to give you
money to open a shop?”
Cecil was left speechless as well.
“You all better leave now. I won’t give you a single cent,” Yakira

said coldly.
These leeches would never be satisfied with just one handout.
Give them once, and they’d come back asking for more.
Hearing that she wouldn’t give them a penny, Normand looked
sullen. “Kira, if you say it like that, then I won’t leave. I want to
see if you can still get the relocation funds without me moving
out.”
“Normand, that house isn’t just yours. If you want to stay, I’ll
move in too,” Cecil said, acting like a rogue.
“What is going on here?” Patricia stormed over, her face cold.
“This is the Blanchard Group, not a market. What’s all this noise
about?”
After reprimanding them, she turned to Yakira and said, “Ms.
Wilkinson, you’re not even an employee here. Bringing your
family issues to the Blanchard Group isn’t appropriate. Even if
you were an employee, no one would behave like this. If you
can’t even handle your own family, how are we supposed to
trust you to design a good logo?”
Every word Patricia spoke was a blow to Yakira’s dignity.
Patricia said, “Ms. Wilkinson, you better get rid of these people
Chapter 28 She Lost It
right now, or I’ll have to call security. If it gets awkward, it won’t
be good for anyone.”
Yakira looked at her coldly. “I don’t know these people, Ms.
McDowell. Feel free to call security.”
Patricia froze, clearly taken aback by Yakira’s response.
“Did you hear that? If you don’t leave, security will escort you
out,” Yakira said coldly.
Cecil’s wife was a burly, sharp–featured woman whose looks
were intimidating on a good day. Now that she was furious, she
looked downright menacing.
She marched up to Yakira, shouting, “Yakira, you ungrateful
wretch! We’re your uncle and aunt, and you’re asking security
to kick us out? Fine! Since your mother’s not here, I’ll give you
the lesson you clearly missed–about respecting your elders!”
With that, she yanked at Yakira’s arm.
Yakira was no match for her.
She was pulled off balance and nearly fell.
But her aunt wasn’t done. She grabbed at Yakira’s hair and
clothes, not planning to let her go.

Yakira looked to Patricia for help, but Patricia stood motionless,
watching the drama unfold, showing no intention of calling
security.
Others saw Cecil’s wife make the first move and quickly
gathered around her.
This scene made Yakira’s mind flash back to another one.
A group of men surrounded her, leering, their grins full of
depravity.
Every time she thought back on it, it felt like a nightmare.
Yakira cried out and broke free, grabbing a vase from the table
and smashing it, then holding the shards, pointing them at the
group.
“Try coming any closer, and I’ll make sure you regret it!”
Seeing the shards in her hands, no one dared to approach.
“Get away from me!” Yakira yelled.
She knew she looked pathetic, but she couldn’t care less.
“What’s going on here? Do you think the Blanchard Group is
just some place for a scene?”
Chapter 28 She Lost It
Brayden strode in, and his bodyguards immediately moved to
block Cecil and the others.
“Bray, there you are!” Patricia rushed to greet him.
“It seems there’s some family conflict between Ms. Wilkinson
and her relatives. I’m handling it, but Ms. Wilkinson is too
emotional and refuses to cooperate,” Patricia said.
Brayden ignored her and coldly said, “Deon, take these
troublemakers to the police station.”
Hearing that they would be taken to the police, Cecil, Normand,
and the others turned pale.
Cecil rushed forward. “Mr. Blanchard, don’t you remember me?
I’m Kira’s uncle, I just came to talk to her.”
“Yes, I’m her uncle, just here to talk. We’re not causing trouble.
We’ll leave now.””
With that, they hurriedly scurried away.
Brayden’s gaze landed on Yakira. She was disheveled, her hair
in a mess.
Brayden frowned when he saw the glass shards she was still
holding, which had already cut her hand.

“Yakira, they’ve left.”
He took a step forward, but Yakira screamed, “Don’t come near
me!”
She eyed him warily, as if she no longer recognized him.
“Yakira,” Brayden called again.
“I said, don’t come near me. Don’t!”
Yakira’s emotions became increasingly agitated, her grip
tightening on the shards.
Blood dripped through her fingers, staining her hands crimson.
