Ash Rose Novel by Nova Hawthorne _ Novel Ch 6

From just a step away, Annabelle looked at Alexander with a terrified expression.

Alexander’s furious eyes locked onto her as his voice darkened,

“You lied to me?”

Still shaken, Annabelle instinctively glanced down at her legs.

She was done for.

Quickly, she grabbed onto the nearby rack and pretended her legs couldn’t support her. She hurriedly explained,

“No, Alexander.”

“To be worthy of you, I’ve been pushing myself for check-ups. The doctors said, although my condition was serious, it

wasn’t impossible for me to stand again.”

“Maybe it’s because you’ve been here with me, and the treatment worked better. That’s why…”

Slap!

Alexander suddenly raised his hand and slapped Annabelle hard to the ground.

If he believed such an absurd excuse, he’d truly be a fool.

He crouched down, grabbing her hair tightly, warning her,

“Shut up until I find out the truth.”

“I hate being lied to more than anything. I’ll bring in professionals to examine you, and if you dare lie…”

“Annabelle, your fate will be far worse than paralysis.”

Alexander ordered people to keep a close watch on Annabelle.

He floored the accelerator and rushed to our new home.

As soon as he arrived, he hurriedly searched for me,

“Vivienne?”

“Vivienne!”

“Have you seen where Vivienne went?”

The maid who was asked shook her head, clueless,

“Ms. Kingsley hasn’t been back for two days.”

“I only saw her ring on the coffee table, the one she always wears. Other than that, I don’t know anything else.”

Alexander immediately walked to the coffee table.

Sure enough, there lay the engagement ring he had once personally placed on my finger.

I had taken it off.

Then I had left the house, blocked all contact.

We were adults. We all understood what this meant.

I was breaking up with Alexander.

Alexander slumped onto the sofa, dry throat tightening painfully, feeling as if swallowing shards of glass with every

breath.

Once he calmed down a little, he immediately called his lawyer.

There was still a chance.

If the family estate was returned to me, there was still hope.

After dealing with that, Alexander couldn’t help but think of Bobo.

Whenever we fought, one of us stayed in the study, the other in the bedroom, unwilling to face each other.

At those times, Bobo would always carry a ball, weaving between us.

Like a child trying to make peace between quarreling parents.

Clumsy, but lovable.

No matter how angry I was, for Bobo’s sake, I’d always give Alexander a way out.

The villa was strangely without any sign of Bobo. Remembering the terrible sound when Annabelle’s wheelchair crushed him, Alexander assumed Bobo was resting and called the pet hospital we often used.

But strangely, Bobo wasn’t there.

After pondering, Alexander had no choice but to call the vet who was supposed to euthanize Bobo that day.

“Resting here with me?”

“Mr. Sinclair, didn’t Ms. Kingsley tell you?”

“That dog has already died. It was crushed, its internal organs ruptured.”

Bang!

Alexander felt as if his head had been struck hard, leaving only emptiness.

Just then, his assistant hurried in, reporting to Alexander,

“Sir, the investigation you asked for has results.”

“Miss Moreau’s legs show no problem, and we found no record of any car accident or treatment abroad. It seems like her

paralysis appeared out of nowhere after returning.”

“So, Miss Moreau’s paralysis is fake.”
