Broken Ch 12
Chapter 12 It’s worth a million.
If Scarlett Adler showed even a hint of concern, Tiana Young would have won the negotiation.
However, Scarlett Adler simply didn’t care.
“What does it have to do with me?” she retorted. “I didn’t work on the project, and I won’t be getting the
bonus.”

“With just one word from me, the manager will assign the project to you,” Tiana Young said confidently.
Scarlett raised an eyebrow, realizing Tiana was quite experienced in such matters.
“I have no interest in stealing projects from my colleagues. I may not be perfect, but I do have some
principles. As for whether you use our company’s project, I don’t care because it’s your company that will
suffer the loss. I won’t claim our project is the best, but it’s definitely the best one you’ve seen.” Scarlett spoke
clearly, subtly criticizing Tiana’s character in a double entendre.
Tiana’s face darkened instantly. The way she looked at Scarlett made it seem like she wanted to tear her face
off.
“Instead of trying to pressure me with the project, why not just ask how much money I want? Wouldn’t that be
simpler and more direct?” Scarlett asked, looking directly at her.
Tiana Young narrowed her eyes; this woman was finally showing her greedy side.
“How much do you want?” Tiana asked.
“How much do you think Hugo Hodges is worth?”
No matter what question she threw at Scarlett Adler, she always responded with a counter-question.
Tiana could see that this woman had some tricks up her sleeve. At least in terms of negotiation, she was
much stronger than any woman she had encountered before, making it impossible to figure out her bottom
line.
“One million,” Tiana said.
Scarlett raised an eyebrow. “So, in your eyes, Hugo Hodges is only worth one million!”
“Scarlett Adler, you know very well what Hugo Hodges is worth. Giving you one million is giving you a chance.
There should be a limit to greed,” Tiana said.
Scarlett pondered her words repeatedly and nodded. “I think you’re right. Okay, is the check ready?”
Tiana had expected to argue with this woman for a while, but she didn’t expect her to do an about-face,
which caught her off guard.
However, as long as she was willing to take the money, things would be easy.
Tiana picked up her bag, took out a check from inside, and placed it on the table.
Scarlett Adler glanced at the check. “Is there anything else you need me to do?”
“Don’t have any contact with Hugo Hodges ever again,” Tiana Young said.
Scarlett Adler nodded. “Understood.”
Tiana Young thought that any woman who could be bought off with money wasn’t a problem.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving now!” Scarlett Adler said, picking up the check from the table. She gave
Tiana Young a meaningful look before leaving.
As soon as she stepped out, she ran into the manager.
The manager saw her and cautiously asked, “All done?”
Scarlett Adler smiled slightly. “Manager, quickly inform the company that Mr. Young from the Hodges Family
Group feels sorry for us, so he’s giving one million dollars as a bonus for all the employees.”
The manager was in disbelief. “Wh-what?”
The receptionist and many others overheard.

Scarlett Adler waved the check in her hand. “The money is all here. Please distribute it to everyone, Manager.”
With that, she stuffed the check into the manager’s hands, turned around, and left.
Tiana Young came out of the office shortly after and saw Scarlett Adler’s actions. Her face immediately
turned ashen.
At that moment, Scarlett turned back to Tiana. “Thanks, Mr. Young,” she said before heading to the front
desk. “Please order afternoon tea for a hundred people. It’s on me.”
“Re-really?” the receptionist asked.
Scarlett nodded. “Absolutely! Order whatever you like. I’m paying!”
“Alright, I’ll get right on it!” the receptionist replied.
Scarlett smiled as she returned to the programming department, feeling great.
Tiana, however, stood behind with clenched fists. “Scarlett, you’ve got guts!”
Manager Yan looked at the check in his hand, feeling the heat, and then back at Tiana. “Mr. Young, this…”
Tiana didn’t say a word and simply walked away.
Manager Yan was left holding the hot potato, unsure of what to do.
Scarlett’s action was posted in the company group chat and quickly spread throughout the company.
Although there were many employees, a million dollars split among them was still a significant amount. And
who wouldn’t want free money?
Many people in the group chat expressed disbelief. The receptionist even posted several photos, including
one of the manager looking lost while holding the check. Only then did everyone believe it.
But a million dollars!
Scarlett Adler just gave it away to everyone?
And why would Tiana Young give a million dollars for no reason?
It was all so puzzling!
Finally, someone couldn’t resist and went to ask Scarlett, “Ms. Adler, what’s the deal with the million dollars?”
“You all know about it?” Scarlett asked with a smile.
“So, it’s true?”
“Yes!” Scarlett nodded, confident that Tiana wouldn’t ask for the check back to save face. “The money is with
the manager; you can go to him to cash it. But it’s a check, so it might take some time to convert it into
cash!”
“I…I…” The person was so surprised that they didn’t know what to do. “I’ll go ask!” They said, before hurrying
off.
Their conversation was heard clearly by the colleagues.
Although they didn’t understand why Scarlett did this, it was indeed…indescribable.
Soon, the colleague returned, standing at the door for several minutes, as if they had lost their soul.
Until someone asked, “What’s wrong? What happened?”
The person suddenly shouted, “Damn it, the check is real!”
A strange atmosphere suddenly filled the programming department.
Just then, a “Perfect Score Afternoon Tea” delivery arrived.
Several people carried the boxes inside.
Ethan Underwood asked, “Yan, why so much afternoon tea? Who bought it?”

“Ms. Adler bought it. She said it’s for everyone to enjoy!” Yan replied with a smile.
All eyes turned to Scarlett Adler once again.
Scarlett stood up and said, “I know I’ve caused a lot of trouble for the company since I arrived, which was
really unexpected. This afternoon tea is just a small token of my appreciation. I hope you all enjoy it.”
Getting paid and getting free food?
Scarlett’s gesture was definitely appreciated.
“Actually, everyone knows this has nothing to do with you, but thank you anyway!”
Then everyone went to grab some afternoon tea.
It was clear to everyone that Scarlett had nothing to do with the issue, but East Hayes still scoffed and
kicked his chair aside as he walked out.
“East Hayes is in a bad mood; it’s not directed at you. Don’t mind him!” Brent Carter reassured her.
Scarlett Adler didn’t mind and took a cup of coffee from the afternoon tea set.
In the programming department, everyone was getting along harmoniously except for East Hayes.
