Chapter 14 Suddenly kissed her.

It was around 9 PM when Yale Lowe drove Scarlett Adler back home.
After the car stopped, Scarlett Adler looked at him and said, “It’s late, so I won’t invite you up. Drive carefully
on your way back.”
Yale Lowe nodded. “Then… can we have dinner together again sometime?”
“Sure!” She was more than happy to have dinner with a handsome guy.
“Can I get your contact info?” Yale Lowe said, pulling out his phone. “WhatsApp?”
Scarlett Adler realized that they had been talking for so long without exchanging contact information.
Scarlett Adler took out her phone and let him scan her QR code.
After they successfully connected, Yale Lowe said, “I’ll send you my number. If you ever need my help, feel
free to call me anytime.”
“Okay.”
“Then I should head back,” Yale Lowe said.
His eyes were particularly captivating, filled with such deep affection and tenderness when he looked at
someone, as if he was reluctant to leave.
“Okay,” Scarlett Adler nodded.
Yale Lowe smiled, turned around, got into his car, and drove off.
Only after he had left did Scarlett Adler prepare to go upstairs.
But in the next second, a car came speeding from a distance, heading straight for her.
Before Scarlett Adler could even react, the car stopped just a yard away from her.

The next moment, Hugo Hodges got out of the car and strode directly toward her, looking menacing.

of your mind?”
Hugo sneered, “Yes, and if I am, you’re the one who drove me to it.” With that, he grabbed her and kissed her
forcefully on the lips.
Scarlett’s eyes widened instantly.
A strange sensation coursed through her body, spreading to every limb.
The next moment, Scarlett pushed him away. “Are you crazy?”
Seeing her wiping the spot he had kissed with disgust, Hugo became even angrier. “What, already got a new
lover so soon? Forgotten your old flame?”
Scarlett, thinking he must have seen Yale Lowe, didn’t deny it. “What, you expect me to pine after you forever?
It’s not like we have any good memories.”
Scarlett’s words and actions were enough to drive anyone crazy.
Hugo Hodges stared at her, wishing he could crush her in his hands. “If that’s the case, then why did you take
the million?”
“So, that’s why you’re here?” Scarlett Adler retorted.
“What, you admit it? You didn’t want my money when we divorced, so why take the million now?” Hugo
Hodges asked.
Scarlett knew that Tiana Young must have only mentioned that she took the money, but definitely didn’t say
what it was used for.
Scarlett didn’t care about leaving a good impression on Hugo, but she wouldn’t let Tiana get away with this.
“Tiana Young came to me and made it clear that the project couldn’t go through because of me. That project

is the hard work of several people in our company, and it’s not directly related to me. But now it can’t happen because of you and me. If you can all mix business with personal matters, why can’t I take the money?”
Scarlett countered.
Hugo narrowed his eyes. “Tiana Young said that?”
“What, you don’t believe it?”
“I haven’t made a decision about the project yet!”
“But your dear fiancée has already made the decision for you!” she stated.
“Fiancée?” Hugo Hodges questioned. “Who told you she’s my fiancée?”
“Who said it isn’t important, whether it’s true or not isn’t important either. What matters, Mr. Hodges, is that
there’s nothing between us anymore!” With that, Scarlett Adler pulled her hand from his. “Please keep your
distance.”
The more Scarlett Adler tried to keep her distance, the less Hugo Hodges wanted to.
“Scarlett Adler, I’m afraid you won’t get your way!” Hugo Hodges said.
“That’s not up to you!” Scarlett Adler didn’t want to argue with him, afraid that if she did, the triplets might
come down and see them.
Not giving Hugo Hodges a chance to say anything more, Scarlett Adler walked towards the staircase.
Watching her back, Hugo Hodges smiled coldly. “Our twisted fate, I’m afraid, will extend much further.”
After smoking a cigarette downstairs, he prepared to get in his car and leave.
But as he turned around, he saw a little cutie.
“Oh, you’re that handsome uncle from that day?” Fourth Adler asked, looking at Hugo Hodges.

Hugo Hodges had a strong impression of the little girl, especially her saying, “Daddies are hard to come by.”
He didn’t expect to meet her here. Hugo walked over and said, “It’s you, little one. Do you live here?”
“Uh-huh!” Fourth Adler nodded. “Do you live here too, handsome uncle?”
“No, I’m here to see… a friend!”
Fourth Adler nodded, then gave him a gossipy look. “Is it a girlfriend?”

Fourth Adler thought about it seriously for a moment, then shook her head. “Never mind, never mind. You
can’t be like that.”
Watching her talk to herself, looking so quirky, Hugo asked with a smile, “What can’t you be like?”
“Uncle, you’re a step too late. I could have introduced you to a super pretty girlfriend, but… she probably has a
boyfriend today, so you missed your chance!” Fourth Adler said.
Hugo smiled. “Is that so? That’s a pity.”
Looking at the little girl’s adorable face, Hugo couldn’t help but ask, “How old are you?”
“Five.”
Hugo Hodges couldn’t help but wonder if Scarlett Adler had kept the child, they would probably be about this
age now.
Looking at Fourth Adler, he gently stroked her forehead, wondering if the twins had been boys or girls.
“Uncle, what’s wrong?” Fourth Adler asked, “Why do you look so sad?”
“It’s nothing,” Hugo Hodges replied, shaking his head. “I could have had a lovely child like you, but…”
“But what?”
“But it wasn’t meant to be,” Hugo Hodges said.
Fourth Adler didn’t understand what he meant, but she suddenly reached out and patted his head. “Uncle, it’s
okay. You can still have a lovely child like me, and your child will love you very much.”
When her hand touched his head, Hugo Hodges felt a strange sensation.
He couldn’t quite explain it.
Hugo Hodges held her small hand in his palm for a moment, then said, “Thank you for your comfort. Well, it’s
getting late. You should go home before your family gets worried!”
“Okay, goodbye, Uncle!” Fourth Adler said, turning to leave. But after a few steps, she suddenly remembered
