Late at night, inside a bar, Tiana Young sat at the counter, sipping her drink with tears in her eyes.
She had known Hugo Hodges for five years. In those five years, she had done everything to be by his side,

becoming his right-hand person, the one he needed most. She had always believed she was unique to Hugo,
but his words today had completely shattered that illusion.
He had always seemed to accept her actions before, so why had he suddenly changed?
Did he even know how she felt?
Hadn’t she made her feelings clear enough?

< Chapter 18 The bar was surrounded.
Why did he always ignore her feelings?
Tiana drank one glass after another, her heart aching more than ever before.
Unbeknownst to her, she was being watched.

In the corners of the bar, three or four men were plotting something. Finally, one of them walked over with a
drink in hand.
“Hey, beautiful, all alone?”
Tiana glanced at him but ignored him, continuing to drink.
“What’s wrong? Not feeling happy?” the man persisted, shamelessly. “If you’re not happy, how about I have a
drink with you?”
“Go away!” Tiana said impatiently. This man was repulsive.
“Feisty, aren’t we?” the man teased, showing no signs of giving up. Instead, he grew bolder, reaching out to
hug her. “What’s got you down? Tell your big brother, maybe I can help!”
“Get your filthy hands off me.” Tiana Young broke free from his embrace and stood up abruptly from her chair,
a bit unsteady on her feet due to the alcohol.
The man caught her as she stumbled. “Whoa, careful there! What if you fall?”
“Get lost!” Tiana Young pushed away from him, glaring at him with annoyance.
“Don’t be angry. The angrier you get, the more I like it,” the man said with an increasingly shameless smile.
Knowing he was a rogue, Tiana didn’t bother arguing. She got up to leave, but just then, a few men emerged
from the corner and blocked her path.
“Hey, why so upset? It’s just a drink,” one of them said.
Seeing three or four men surround her, Tiana knew things were turning bad. “Don’t come any closer,” she
warned.

“Don’t be scared. We just want to get to know you, have a drink,” another man said.
Tiana quickly pulled out her phone and immediately called Hugo Hodges.
The phone rang several times before being answered. “Hugo, help me! Come save me! I’m at Gold Street Bar.”
“Tiana? What’s wrong?”
“Who are you calling?” Someone snatched the phone directly from Tiana Young’s hand. “We’re just having a
drink with you, why are you calling for backup?” With that, they hung up Tiana’s call.
She looked at them, stepping backward. “Don’t come any closer.”
The more she said that, the closer they got. “It’s just a drink, why are you reacting so strongly?”
“Yeah, exactly.”
“Get away, get out!” Tiana shouted as one of the men took something and dropped it into her drink. “Alright,
alright, we’ll leave right away if you just drink this.”
Tiana looked at them, each with malicious intentions. She knocked the glass out of his hand, shattering it on
the floor.
“You bitch, you don’t know what’s good for you…” The man raised his hand to hit Tiana.
“Stop.” Suddenly, someone shouted. They looked over to see several police officers rushing in.
The men tried to run, but the police surrounded them.
“Officer, we didn’t do anything. We just wanted to have a drink with her,” the men said, squatting on the ground with their heads in their hands.
“Save the nonsense, IDs.”
Tiana stood to the side, dazed and at a loss for what to do.
The next moment, Hugo Hodges walked in and went straight to her. “Tiana, how are you? Are you okay?”
Hearing Hugo’s voice, Tiana Young snapped out of it. Seeing him, she suddenly burst into tears. “Hugo,
Hugo!” she cried, and hugged him tightly.
Hugo glanced around and then comforted her. “It’s okay, it’s okay now!”
Just then, the police came over to ask about the situation. Hugo calmed Tiana down first, then briefly
explained things to the police.
He had thought it was just a simple farce, but as Hugo held her, he suddenly noticed a white pill on the ground and frowned.
“What’s this?” he asked, picking it up and showing it to the police.
As soon as the men saw it, they got up and tried to run, but the police reacted quickly and pinned them down.
One of the officers went over and took the dissolving pill from Hugo’s hand. “If I had to guess, it’s probably some kind of stimulant or sedative, but we’ll need to take it back to the lab to be sure.”
“Thank you for your help!” Hugo said.
The police officer turned back and looked at the people squatting on the ground. “Take them in.”
After dealing with everything, Hugo Hodges helped Tiana Young out of the bar.
Her clothes had been damaged in the earlier scuffle, so Hugo took off his jacket and draped it over her
shoulders.
With Hugo by her side, his timely appearance had reassured Tiana a lot, and her dependence on him had grown even more.
“Hugo, I’m sorry,” Tiana said as they reached the car.
“What are you apologizing for?” Hugo asked, looking at her.
“I know it was wrong of me not to tell you about those things. I was headstrong, and I’ve been reflecting on it

all day. I shouldn’t have yelled at you either. I’m sorry,” she said.
As his right-hand person, she always handled things very well for him. Even if there was something wrong,
Hugo didn’t take it to heart. “There are bound to be disagreements at work. No need to apologize,” he said.
“Are you still mad at me then?” Tiana asked.
“I didn’t take it to heart,” he replied.
Didn’t take it to heart?
Tiana didn’t know whether to be happy or not.
Tears welled up in her eyes. “I was really scared today…”
“Don’t
go out drinking alone anymore, Tiana. You’re not a child. You know very well what could have
happened if you had actually drunk that drink. You never used to make mistakes like this,” Hugo Hodges said.
“Yes, I know everything, I understand everything, but I’m also a woman, Hugo. Can you please not talk to me
in such a business-like tone?” Tiana Young said, looking at him with a hint of coquetry in her voice.
Hugo Hodges looked at her, his brow slightly furrowed.
“I also want to be treated gently…” She took a step forward, but her legs gave way and she fell directly into
Hugo Hodges’s arms.
Whether it was a coincidence or not, in a car not far away, several people were snapping photos of the scene
