Burn those Who Burned Me Novel Ch 12
-Thomas’s POV
Saturday finally came, for the rest of the week everything went on as normal, we finished celebrating Danielle’s birthday week and everyone returned back to their natural flow. Up until that day, I hadn’t received any phone calls from the hospital, so I assumed Rabena was fine. On the way, I decided to stop at a jewelry store to pick out a gift for her. Once I arrived, I realized I had no clue what type of taste she had in jewelry. Growing frustrated, I decided to pick something I knew Dani would like. They were twins after all, shouldn’t their tastes be similar?
After purchasing a necklace with matching earrings, I headed towards Memorial Hope. When I walked up to the front desk, I realized I didn’t remember what room she was in, I knew she wasn’t in the VIP suites, but I still couldn’t remember her room. I looked around wondering if I would see Damon anywhere, I’d assumed he’d stayed at the hospital all this time, but he was nowhere to be found. At that point, I decided to just ask the receptionist.
“Excuse me, but could you tell me what room Rabena Lockwood is in please?”
The receptionist looked up with a bright smile on her face and began typing in the information. Suddenly she paused and with a troubled look began to speak.
“I’m sorry, you did say Rabena Lockwood correct?”
Irritated. “Yes. What room is she in?” EL
The receptionist then gave me a nervous look.
“Um, could you tell me who you are please?”
Unbelievable!

“I’m her husband!”
Suddenly everyone in the area was staring at me. Not wanting to cause a scene, I calmed my voice down.

“Look, I’m Rabena Cr-…Lockwood’s husband, Thomas Lockwood. I’m here to pick up my wife, I was told today she would
be discharged.”

Suddenly there were faint gasps and low whispering, everyone knew who the Lockwoods were. It came as a shock that one of the patients were not in the VIP. I suddenly felt ashamed again. I once rushed Danielle to the hospital for a minor burn and had her in the VIP for just a few hours, why didn’t request that for Rabena?
“Um, sir, Mrs. Lockwood is hot here.”
It felt like a tone of bricks fell onto my head. What the hell was that supposed to mean? Gritting
“That’s impossible! How could she not be here! Where the hell else could she be!”
Now nervous, the receptionist began to stutter.
“W–Well, what I mean is…”
I cut her off before she could even finish, my nerves were through the roof.
My teeth, I began to yell.
“Spit it out! Are you that incompetent that you can’t keep track of patients! Especially someone as prominent as a Lockwood!”
Just then, a nurse stormed over and slammed a chart on the counter. Will stern eyes she stared daggers at me. She must be the head nurse.
That’s enough Mr. Lockwood! I won’t have you speaking to my front desk like this! You may be a Lockwood, but this is a hospital! Please lower your tone.”
Thomas shot the nurse a death stare but chose to comply. He couldn’t afford to cause a scene. After letting out a sigh, he began to speak.
*I apologize for my outburst. I just want to know what room my wife is in as I am here to pick her up.”
Lowering her glare, the nurse began to speak.

“Mr. Lockwood, Rabena is no longer here.”
The words hit me like a lightening bolt, what did she mean no longer here! Did that mean? No, it couldn’t be! Grabbing the counter to hold my balance, my face began to pale, I needed clarification.
“Are you saying m–my wife, s–she…”
Sensing his panic, Nurse Hanna held up her hands in protest and to explain.
“Oh god no! I don’t mean she’s passed! I mean, she has already been discharged.”
My nerves began to pace, I was glad to hear she had not died, but wait a minute, how could she have discharged without me knowing. Confused, I- asked for an explanation.
“When did she get discharge?! Why wasn’t I notified! Where is she?!”
The nurse began to explain, she stated Rabena left the hospital on Monday; she wasn’t sure where she went afterwards.
“We asked your wife if she wanted us to notify you, she said no. Her brother was here with her. You weren’t aware?”

Damon! Got dammit! Where had he taken and why would he remove her from the hospital before her suggested time! Frustrated I lashed out at the nurse.
“Why in hell would you all let him take her from the hospital before her suggested discharge date! What kind of fools are you should have been notified immediately!”

“Mr. Lockwood, speak to any of us like this again, and I’ll have you removed by security. First, your WIFE is the one that discharged herself. Both Dr. Segall and I advised against it, but she insisted. When the PATIENT is discharging themselves, we don’t have to notify anyone! Second, we gave her a detailed health regimen so that she can take care of herself adequately. Lastly, your

The last part of her rant hit me like a train “no wonder she declined to call you“. It was no secret amongst our inner circles that I did not care for Rabena, but hearing it spewed back to me from a stranger left me feeling a way I had never felt before. As I turned to leave, I pulled out my phone and called Rabena.
“Hey, this Rabena, pleas leave me a message at the sound of the beep!”
I left Rabena a message asking her to call me ASAP, then decided to call Damon only to be greeted by his voicemail as well. What the hell was going on? Why did she leave early and not return hom-
Suddenly it hit me, she must have returned back to “our” home. I didn’t even take that into consideration! I hurried to my car and raced home. As I pulled into my mansion, I noticed Damon’s car was not in sight. Perhaps he’s headed home? Walking into the foyer, I called my head butler Raymond to the front.
“Yes sir, how can I be of assistance?”
“Where’s Rabena? Has she been resting since she got home from the hospital?”
Raymond looked at me as if I had 10 heads. Confused, he began to speak.
“Sir, I’m afraid I don’t quite understand.”
What the hell was this! My irritation level was now reaching its breaking point.
“Rabena! Have you been taking care of her since she returned home from the hospital!?”
“Mr. Lockwood, Madam Rabena is not here.”
