Gloria didn’t look happy or angry, just kept her head down doing her own thing.
After thinking for a bit, Gloria said, “The fish is in the tank, you handle it yourself, we happened to want to cook fish for dinner tonight too.”
Seryna: “Okay!”
She rolled up her sleeves and got to work.

Gloria was stunned. The little girl looked really young, like she’d had a tough life for years, and she was really quick with her work.
Gloria finally showed a slight smile: “Miss, you handled the fish so well. Looks like you had a tough childhood. Girls these days, let alone killing a fish, they’d get scared even if a fish jumped out of the tank.”
Seryna was cleaning the fish and said, “Gloria, a month ago, I was still an orphan.”
Gloria paused and looked at her, “No wonder. You’re a pretty girl, you can tell you’re lucky. I might not be that lucky myself, but anyone I praise is definitely lucky.”
Seryna tilted her head and gave Gloria a big smile: “Gloria, being safe and sound was happiness, and being healthy was a blessing.”

“Ha ha…” Gloria laughed happily, “You little girl, you look so young, but it’s like you’ve lived as long as I have. You’re right, a lot of young people only care about profit and making money. Actually, they never think about it–life is really about health, that’s happiness.”
“You see how beautiful the sunset was outside. Young people these days were just busy looking at their phones, playing games, and watching short videos. They didn’t even want to look up at the blue sky, the gorgeous sunset, or the green mountains and rivers around them.”
“I lived here and felt very satisfied. Every morning when I got up, I went out for a walk, picked some vegetables in the garden, and bought some small fish and shrimp. Life was really fun.”
Gloria instantly started talking. She just explained things calmly. Seryna listened carefully and could feel her happiness.
“In our days, there was a lot of happiness. I was born in a small mountain village. My parents were real farmers, but my mom only had me and my younger brother. My brother and I grew up on our own because our parents were too busy. No adults looked after me. We had to go through a lot of hardships since we were little. We cooked for ourselves, made our own fire, and had to do a lot of things by ourselves.”
“Life was simple, but we were really happy. Wild fruits from the mountain, loaches from the fields, and little fish from the river were all the fun of our childhood.”
“My younger brother was a farmer too, with a son and a daughter. My brother was really hardworking. Even though they were all farmers, they lived a happy life.”
“I had two sons, they were both pretty capable, and now they had houses in the city and their own small companies.”
