She woke groggily in the lobby. “Why am I here?“[]
“You have a fever. I brought you in for a check–up. Seriously, how can you not even take care of yourself at this age?” Elijah’s tone held

But just a few steps away, he spotted Tiffany.[]
“Wait, Tiffany? What are you doing here? Didn’t I just drop you off?“[]
The girl was in a cute white dress, looking sweet and delicate.]
“I wanted to make some porridge when I got home and accidentally burned my hand,” she said, revealing her reddened skin.[]

He quickly pushed aside thoughts of Kendall and rushed Tiffany through the registration, examination, and medication steps, forgetting all about the earlier situation.[]

Seeing her swollen hand, Elijah immediately gripped it in his. “I’m so sorry. I ran into a friend and lost track of time. Before I knew it, you were gone, and I had to search for you.“[]
Kendall chose not to call him out on his lie, simply replying with a quiet, “Mm.“[]
After finishing her IV treatment, Elijah helped Kendall back home.[]
As soon as they reached the garage, Kendall spotted Tiffany waiting ahead.[]

Since the two had already agreed to keep their relationship a secret, Elijah didn’t hesitate but introduced Kendall casually, “This is my best friend, Kendall. She was feeling under the weather, so I came to keep her company.“[]
Hearing Elijah’s response, Kendall felt a weight pressing on her chest, making it hard to breathe.
