Tendall instinctively wanted to decline, but Elijah jumped in first with a yes.
Sering the open car door, she had no choice but to sink down into the seat.
During the ride. Elijah kept the conversation flowing, reminiscing with Tiffany about many past events.[]
Tlijah, you still have strawberry candies in your car. Remember that New Year’s performance in high school when I was so nervous playing the piano? You asked me how to calm down, and I said I wanted strawberry candies, so you braved the rain to get some for me. Since then, every time we met, you always offered me a couple.“]
“Hey, this little figure looks familiar. Isn’t this the toy I told you I loved? Didn’t expect you to buy it too.“]
“Elijah, your cologne smells really good. I casually mentioned that guys who wear this fragrance are quite charming, and then you started using it.“[]
Kendall silently listened, realizing that the carefree Elijah in front of her turned into a bashful boy when he genuinely liked someone, subtly trying to cater to her tastes.[]
She lifted her gaze and caught a glimpse of his flushed ears in the rearview mirror.
“Even after all this time, does he still feel butterflies? Well, she is his first love, after all–like a moonlight dream,” she thought]
Once they arrived at the bar, Kendall settled into a corner.[]
Elijah naturally sat next to Tiffany, draping his coat over her legs.]
The group in the booth immediately erupted into teasing remarks.[]
“It’s been five years, and Elijah is still such a gentleman. When Tiffany loses, can we just pour the shot right into his glass?“]
“Does it even need to be said? Elijah doesn’t have a girlfriend, and no one’s watching. As long as Tiffany says the word, he’d willingly drink to the bottom tonight.“]
Elijah instinctively glanced at Kendall. She was focused on her phone, seemingly oblivious to their teasing.[]
He felt a twinge of anxiety and couldn’t help but send her a text []
“Kendall, no one knows about our relationship, so they’re just joking around. Don’t take it to heart. Tonight is Tiffany’s welcome dinner. It’s not the right moment to bring it up. Next time, I promise I’ll tell everyone about us.“[]
“Next time? There won’t be a next time,” Kendall thought.]
Before long, the games began.]
In the first round, Kendall Jost, and the punislunent was to down three shots
Elijah reached out to help, but someone stopped him []
“Hey, the rules say you can only help if the other person agrees. Kendall, you’re turning thirty soon, right? After years in the working world, three shots should be easy for you.“[]
Hearing them mention her age so intentionally made Kendall upset.[]
She didn’t want to owe Elijah anything before leaving, so she firmly took the glass.[]
Forcing herself to drink it down, applause and cheers erupted around her.[]
In the second round, Tiffany lost. She glanced at Elijah, and everyone seamlessly poured the drinks into his glass.]
Without hesitation, he downed it.[]
As the rounds continued, Tiffany kept losing, and Elijah’s glass never stayed empty.[]
Before long, he was completely drunk and stumbled to the bathroom.]
Ten minutes later, still waiting for him to return, Kendall left the booth and found him in the stairwell.[]
The moment he saw her, Elijah wrapped his arms around her, murmuring softly.]
“Tiffany, I’m so happy. I’ve been waiting for you. I only want to be with you for the rest of my life, to give you the best experiences. Everything others have, I want to give it to you too. So I learned for five years how to make my girlfriend happy, what gifts to prepare, and how to kiss. I’ll treat you so well, make you the happiest girl. Will you be my girlfriend? I really, really like you.“]
Each word sliced through Kendall’s heart like a knife, leaving her in agony.
She stared at his face, grief and pain evident in her eyes.]
Biting her lip until it bled, she couldn’t help but ask him, “Elijah, what do I really mean to you?”
When Elijah heard those words, his hazy mind suddenly snapped to attention.[]
He opened his eyes and, right in front of him, was a visibly upset Kendall. A shock went through him, and he fully woke up.[]
He knew he had said a lot of drunken nonsense, but he couldn’t remember exactly what. So, he just said, “Kendall, I was drunk earlier. Don’t take anything I said to heart.“]
