Elijah immediately leaned closer, his tone unexpectedly gentle. “Tiffany, you’re awake. How are you feeling? Is there anything bothering you?”
Tiffany shook her head, her eyes slightly red. “I’m okay, just a bit dizzy. Elijah, have you been here with me the whole time?”
He gently took her hand, concern etched on his face. “Of course. You’ve been unconscious for so long. How could I leave you?“]
Tears welled up in Tiffany’s eyes as she choked out, “Elijah, you’re so sweet. I don’t even know how to thank you.“[]
Smiling. Elijah gently wiped away a tear from the corner of her eye. “No need for that. Just focus on resting. I’ll get you something to eat.“]]
With that, he stood and went to the small kitchen in the hospital to fetch a warm bowl of porridge, carefully feeding her a few spoonfuls.]
After a few bites, Tiffany gently pushed his hand away, concern in her voice. “Elijah, you’ve been here all day. You should rest. Don’t worry about me.” “D
Elijah felt a twinge of fatigue but nodded and picked up his phone, ready to step out.]
As he opened his phone, a message from Kendall popped up on the screen.
“Elijah, I heard everything that day at the club. Where there’s love, there’s also hate. I guess I don’t hate you as much anymore, mainly because I don’t love you anymore. The good thing about being with Kendall is that she knows when to hold on and when to let go. Good luck with your crush. Let’s break up.“[]
Elijah froze, his mind racing.
What did he say that day at the club?
He suddenly recalled the conversation he had with his buddies while drinking, the words cutting into his heart like knives.]
“Falling for someone? You think you’d actually have feelings for a practice toy?”
“Did Kendall hear all of it?” he wondered.[]
His heart sank as his fingers trembled.[]
He finally realized why Kendall had been so cold with him lately, why she avoided him, and why there was always a look in her eyes he couldn’t decipher.]
She had known all along.
Panic rose within Elijah, an indescribable feeling as if something precious was slipping from his grasp.]
“Elijah, what’s wrong?” Tiffany’s voice broke through his thoughts, laced with worry.[]
Snapping back to reality, Elijah quickly tucked his phone away, forcing a smile. “Nothing. Just some work stuff I need to handle.“]
Tiffany nodded, her eyes filled with trust. “You go take care of it. Don’t let it hold you back.“[]
Elijah agreed and walked out of the room, but instead of heading to the office, he drove straight to the club he often visited.[]

Inside, the dim lights and booming music engulfed him.[]
Elijah sat at the bar, downing drink after drink.[]
His friends quickly gathered around, joking, “Hey, Elijah. What brings you out for a drink? Weren’t you at the hospital with Tiffany?”
Elijah stayed silent, focusing on his drink.]
One friend patted his shoulder, teasingly adding, “So, you were with Tiffany all day? Aren’t you afraid Kendall might catch on?“]
Elijah paused at th
the comment, then pulled out Kendall’s message from his pocket, showing it to them.[]
They leaned in for a closer look and burst out laughing.]
“Oh wow, Kendall found out? That’s a relief–saves you from explaining yourself.“[]
“That’s right. You haven’t liked her anyway, so it’s the perfect chance to break it off. Tomorrow’s Tiffany’s birthday. You should confess your feelings.”

“Yeah. You’ve liked Tiffany for ages. Now’s your chance to finally make it happen.“]]
Listening to their banter, Elijah felt an increasing sense of agitation. He gulped down another drink, his vision blurring.[]
“Elijah, why so quiet? You’re not actually falling for Kendall, are you?” One friend sensed something was off and leaned in, asking quietly.
Elijah’s hand hesitated, the glass trembling slightly.[]
He opened his mouth, wanting to deny it, but the words stuck in his throat.
“Falling for Kendall? No way,” he said to himself in his head.]
He had only liked Tiffany, since high school.[]
Kendall was just a stepping stone.[]
But why did he feel so bad when he heard about the breakup?]
Why did he feel a void when she decided to walk away?]
In the dim light and loud music, Elijah gripped his drink, but his eyes stared blankly ahead as if looking for something he had lost.
His friends, originally just teasing, began to notice his prolonged silence, the atmosphere shifting.]
“Dude, you can’t be serious about liking Kendall, right?” one friend asked, half–joking but with genuine concern.
