Elijah’s heart skipped a heat as he suddenly turned his head.
For a brief moment, he thought it was Kendall []
But as he got a clearer view, he realized it was Haley.[]
“Hey, sis?” Elijah stared, surprised. “Aren’t you supposed to be traveling abroad? What brings you back so suddenly?”
Haley walked in confidently, dressed sharply in a fitted suit and high heels. Her icy gaze swept over Tiffany, brimming with undisguised disdain.
“I came back quickly because I didn’t want to miss the chance to see what kind of sister–in–law you were trying to find for me.” Haley sneered, fixing her gaze on Tiffany. “Tiffany, right?“]
Tiffany recoiled at her glare, her eyes widening as they filled with tears, “Haley, I–I haven’t done anything wrong to you. Why do you seem to hate me so much?“[]
Ignoring her distress, Haley pulled out a stack of photos from her bag and slapped them onto Tiffany, “You might not have offended me, but I’ve heard plenty about your disgusting deeds while abroad.“]
The photos scattered everywhere, and as Tiffany looked down, her face went pale. The pictures depicted her living it up at nightclubs, getting cozy with different men, and even some showing her in bed with five guys at once.
Haley’s cold stare was laced with mockery as she continued, “Tiffany, did you really think you could hide all this? My brother liked you, and I didn’t want to meddle, but then you practically shoved your dirt into my face. I did some digging at your school during my trip, and let me tell you, what I found was shocking. Your life abroad is quite the spectacle.”
Tiffany’s expression grew more and more dismal as she stammered, “It’s all a misunderstanding. Somebody is deliberately framing me.”
“Misunderstanding?” Haley sneered again. “Then care to explain how these photos came to be? And those friends you have at school? They all said you had a messy private life and relationships with numerous guys. Now that you’re back home, you want to play the innocent, right?”
The air in the banquet hall felt like it had frozen.[]
Haley’s words detonated like a bomb, instantly igniting murmurs all around, with eyes darting between Tiffany and Elijah.[]
Tiffany’s face drained of color, and tears streamed down her cheeks like a broken string of pearls.[]
Frantically, she clutched Elijah’s arm, her voice trembling almost out of tune. “Elijah, this is all fake. Someone doctored those photos to set me up. You said you’d believe me, right?“]
Elijah didn’t answer immediately. He bent down, picking up the scattered photos, and examining each one closely. Tiffany’s party photos at clubs and her intimate moments with strangers were all painfully clear. His fingers trembled slightly as a wave of complicated emotions surged within him.
Seeing him silent only added to Tiffany’s panic.[]
She gripped his arm tighter as if it were her last lifeline, her voice breaking. “Elijah, please believe me. I didn’t do any of this. When I was abroad, I was bullied a lot. They were jealous of me and set me up.“[]

Elijah lifted his gaze to meet hers. Tears rolled down her cheeks, and her eyes were filled with desperation and pleading. At that moment, his heart felt a sharp pang.
Taking a deep breath, he finally said, “I believe you.“]]
Tiffany’s tears stopped instantly, a smile creeping onto her face.]
But Haley only scoffed, a mocking edge in her voice, “Elijah, are you out of your mind? Those photos are right in front of you, and you still choose to believe her?”
Elijah turned his body, shielding Tiffany behind him, his tone resolute. “Haley, I believe Tiffany. She wouldn’t do something like this… She has been bullied abroad, and those photos are just a setup.“]
Haley stared at him in disbelief, so angry she could barely speak. “You may look handsome but your brain seems to be missing. Don’t believe me? Fine, I’ll take you abroad right now to see who she really is.“]
As she reached for him, Elijah shrugged off her hand, his voice cold, “That’s enough. If you came to be supportive, I welcome you. But if it’s to cause trouble, then please leave. I’m not a child anymore. I can make my own decisions about my feelings.“]
Haley’s face turned ashen with anger as she pointed at him. “Tine. Go ahead. Just don’t come crying to me when you get hurt.“[]
With that, she stormed out of the banquet hall, her heels clicking sharply against the floor.[]
