Elijah felt like he’d been struck by lightning, standing there stiff as a board, as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over him, making him tremble from the cold.[]
He watched Kendall on stage in her white wedding dress, smiling by another man’s side.]
Next to them, Haley stood in her bridesmaid dress, her face beaming with happiness as if she were witnessing the most beautiful
ceremony.
Everything around him was crystal clear– this was Kendall’s wedding.
His mind was a haze, buzzing in disbelief, as though the whole world was collapsing.[]
Only when the emcee’s voice broke the silence did he snap back to reality.[]
“Miss Kendall, will you take Mr. Marcel to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love and honor him in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, forevermore?“]
Kendall lifted her gaze slightly, her eyes warm as she looked at Marcel, a gentle smile on her lips. Just as she was about to speak, Elijah burst onto the stage, his voice hoarse with desperation. “No, she doesn’t want to.“[]
Gasps erupted around the room. Every eye turned to Elijah. Haley’s eyes widened as she grabbed his arm, hissing, “Elijah. What are
you doing? It’s Kendall’s wedding. I told you to stay put and enjoy the reception, not come up here and cause a scene. Are you out of your mind?.”
But Elijah seemed to hear none of it. He shrugged off Haley’s grip, rushing to Kendall, clutching her hand tightly. “Kendall, I was
wrong. I don’t like Tiffany anymore; I’ve liked you for so long. Don’t marry him. I won’t let you. You said you only belong to me. You
can’t do this to me.‘
Kendall clearly hadn’t expected to see Elijah here; her expression turned cold immediately.[]
She yanked her hand away from him, her voice icy and determined. “It’s too late. I told you, I can love deeply but also let go. Elijah, it’s over between us.“[]
But Elijah refused to hear her rejection, still gripping her hand tightly, pleading desperately, “Kendall, don’t be like this. I’ve truly realized my mistakes. You can hit me, yell at me, just don’t marry someone else. This is killing me. Please, just come with me.“[]
His voice was laced with endless pain and regret, pleading with his eyes. But Kendall only looked at him coldly, as if he were a
stranger.
Marcel, standing nearby, frowned and grabbed Elijah’s wrist with enough force to feel crushing. His voice was low and cold, filled with undeniable authority. “Are you trying to take my bride without my consent?“[]
Elijah turned to face him, eyes wild. “She doesn’t like you. She doesn’t like you at all.“[]
Marcel scoffed lightly and turned to Kendall, his tone gentle. “Kendall, who do you like?“[]
Kendall’s gaze fell on Marcel, her eyes full of warmth and resolve. She replied softly, “I love you.“[]
Marcel smirked, looking back at Elijah with a hint of mockery. “Hear that?“[]
Elijah’s face went pale. He felt as though something was squeezing his heart, making it hard to breathe. He shook his head violently, his voice cracking. “No, impossible. You said you only liked me. Kendall, I’m begging you. I’m sorry. Don’t do this to me.”
Chapter 18
His voice grew weaker, turning into a choked sob.[]
Haley stood nearby, her mind in turmoil. She looked at Elijah, who was almost mad with desperation, and then at Kendall’s cold demeanor, suddenly realizing something–her face turned pale.[]
She rushed over, grabbing Elijah by the collar, her voice trembling. “Elijah, what are you doing?.“[]
Elijah stumbled at the pull but kept his focus on Kendall, seemingly not hearing Haley’s outburst.[]
Haley shook with anger, abruptly slapping him hard, her voice filled with frustration and disappointment. “Elijah. I command you to get out of here right now.“]
The slap made Elijah turn his head away, and though his face burned with pain, it barely registered.[]
His gaze remained fixed on Kendall, filled with despair. “Kendall, please! I know I was wrong. Don’t marry someone else. I’m
begging you.”
Marcel’s cold gaze pierced Elijah, his tone warning. “Mr. Trevor, please leave. Otherwise, I won’t hesitate to call security.“[]
Yet Elijah seemed oblivious, still fixated on Kendall, pleading, “Kendall, please. I get it now. Don’t marry him. I’m begging you.“]
Haley, shaking with rage, pulled at Elijah’s arm, her voice now desperate. “Elijah, get out! Don’t make a scene here.”
Elijah ignored her completely, still staring at Kendall, his eyes brimming with pleading. Yet, Kendall never looked his way, holding onto Marcel’s hand tightly as if he were her only lifeline.
Eventually, security rushed in and dragged Elijah out, his cries for Kendall’s name fading into the distance.
Haley stood frozen, watching Elijah being led away, a swirl of complicated emotions washing over her.]
She turned to Kendall and said apologetically, “Kendall, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know he would…”
With that, Haley faced the stunned guests and offered a deep apology.
“Sorry everyone, my brother has been having some mental health issues. He’s already been escorted out, and I apologize for disrupting the wedding.”
A ripple of disbelief swept through the crowd. After all, who would believe that such a handsome guy could have mental health struggles?
Haley paid no mind to their curious gazes, only looking regretfully at Kendall. “Kendall, I’m really sorry. I’ll take care of him later. I hope you find happiness.“]
Kendall managed a small smile, her eyes soft as she looked at Marcel. “I will.“[]
The wedding continued as if the earlier chaos had never happened.[]
