No Mercy, No Forgiveness Novel Ch 48
“Haven’t you seen the news?
James and I are getting married. Did your upbringing teach you to steal other women’s men?”
Maureen snorted with laughter.
Andrea stiffened. “What’s so funny?”
“Just admiring such fine upbringing from our big star.”
Maureen replied leisurely.
Andrea’s face darkened instantly–she knew perfectly well Maureen was an orphan!
“Are you married to Mr. Sutton?
Last I checked, you’re not. Since there’s no wedding, how exactly am I stealing your man?”
“Besides,” Maureen leaned forward, “got any proof he’s your man?”
Since when did quiet Maureen dare mock her? Andrea barely contained her anger. “Seems your memory’s intact after all?”
“Maureen, let me tell you this–someone who doesn’t love you never will.
Whether you play deaf and dumb or pretend amnesia, James won’t ever like you.”
Maureen listened calmly, not a flicker of emotion in her eyes.
“Finished?”
Andrea stared at her in disbelief.
Maureen rose to her feet, looking down at her: “Since you’re so certain he loves you, why does the great star Andrea come whining to me like a bitter woman?”
With a cold laugh, she walked away.
Watching her retreating figure, Andrea recalled the once untouchable heiress of the Ramirez Family!
Remembering how she’d fawned over Maureen for the Ramirez’s sponsorship made her sick!
Now that the Ramirez Family had fallen, how dare Maureen remain so haughty?
Andrea drew a deep breath.

Her agent called just then: “Andie, we’ve got leads on that music piece you wanted.”
“Really?”
“But…” The agent hesitated.
“Just say it,” Andrea urged.

“Mr. Shi released a composition on an obscure overseas platform without copyright registration. I’ve heard it–it could make you famous overnight. We could tweak it slightly…”
That meant plagiarism.
Andrea understood perfectly well. Without hesitation, she said, “Since there’s no copyright, it doesn’t count as her work. You know how it is.”
With Andrea’s approval, her agent could proceed with greater ease.
After hanging up, Andrea pondered how to deal with Maureen.
Maureen didn’t head home but went to the old Ramirez estate instead.
After Noelle and her younger brother Adrian had squandered the Ramirez’s fortune, the old estate had been mort- gaged off. Strangers lived there now.
Since Maureen had faked her death to leave, she’d deliberately avoided any news about Adrian or her mother Noelle.
She wondered how they were faring these days.
Stepping out of the car, she gazed at the familiar estate from a distance, her eyes filled with a vast emptiness.
She stood there for a long while before finally returning to her car.
Tomorrow was Memorial Day Weekend.
Katherine called Maureen, urging her to come over today so they could celebrate the holiday together tomorrow morning.
When Maureen arrived that evening,
Jacob was already teaching Katherine how to soak glutinous rice and wrap Holiday Stuffed Pastries.
“How do you even know about glutinous rice?
And you can wrap these too?”
Katherine looked utterly bewildered.
Jacob sighed helplessly, “It’s all over videos when you search.”

Katherine waved Maureen over. “The housekeeper went home for the festival, so it’s just Jacob and I making the Hol- iday Stuffed Pastries. Took you long enough.”
She lowered her voice. “Geoffrey’s men didn’t follow you, did they?”
“They’re outside.”
“What now?”
“Don’t worry. At worst they’ll tell Geoffrey I’m visiting friends.”
Katherine nodded. “Fair point.” .
Jacob had finished unwrapping a pastry, placing it on a plate before Maureen.
“Mommy, we made Sweet Bean Pastries–your favorite.”
“Love you! Mwah!”
Maureen beamed as she accepted it.
Jacob’s cheeks flushed pink. “Love you too, Mommy.”
Katherine shot Jacob a mock glare. “I wanted Pork–Stuffed Pastries, but you insisted bean ones were healthier… You little schemer, betraying my innocent trust…”
Playful tussling erupted between them, filling the room with laughter.
Watching them, Maureen thought of Steven Brown and Zoe overseas.
Once Steven recovered, the whole family could celebrate together again.
Remembering Justin–who’d been guarding her all along–spent holidays alone, she invited him up for
pastries.
Katherine frowned. “Gareth’s bodyguard? He sent along to Karaville with you?”
“I’ve never seen him before?”
Little Jacob spoke up: “Uncle Justin’s identity is mysterious. He only shows up when Mommy’s in danger.”
“No wonder. When we were abroad, I only heard you had bodyguards but never saw them.”
Katherine ate her Holiday Stuffed Pastries.
She had personal bodyguards too, but they were always out in the open, within ten meters, easy to spot.

Ten minutes later.
Justin appeared at the door, his tailored suit crisp, an aura that warned others to keep their distance.
Katherine’s eyes lit up when she saw him.
