No Mercy, No Forgiveness Novel Ch 58
His men had tailed her for so long without ever spotting a child.
Besides, with Maureen’s body so fragile back then, how could she possibly have carried to term?
!
Geoffrey’s throat choked up, leaving him speechless for a long moment.

Maureen felt restless with unease on her way home.
The moment she stepped inside, she couldn’t help but call Gareth.
The phone connected quickly, a deep, resonant voice coming through.
“Reenie, what’s wrong?”
Gareth knew Maureen only reached out when something troubled her.
“Geoffrey found me today. He asked about the children… he knows I was pregnant before.”
Maureen told him everything.
After a pause, Gareth’s comforting words came through: “Don’t worry. I had Jacob and Ethan’s birth dates altered.”
“That’s good, that’s good.”
Maureen realized she’d panicked momentarily.
“Don’t be afraid. With me here, no one will take Ethan or Jacob away.”
Thousands of miles away, Gareth stood atop a seaside building.
Behind him, a conference room full of executives waited for him to resume their meeting.
Hanging up, Gareth lingered with reluctance.
He then instructed his assistant: “Keep close watch over Ethan. Must never allow Geoffrey’s people to find him.”
Lately, he’d noticed investigators digging into Maureen’s past.
He hadn’t expected Geoffrey’s reach to extend this far.
He kept this from Maureen to spare her worry.

Evening.
Maureen had a nightmare where Geoffrey discovered both children. Not only did he reject them, he wanted them
gone.
She jolted awake, forehead drenched in cold sweat.
She remembered when they first married, Heather urged them to have children soon.
Geoffrey told her: “Don’t expect me to touch you. Even if I did and you got pregnant, I’d never allow that child to live.”
Maureen couldn’t sleep anymore.
Time was running out.
Next morning.
Maureen chose figure–flattering clothes and applied delicate makeup.
Leaving home, she tucked her tools into the purse–just in case.
Corporate Headquarters.
CEO’s Office.
Maureen came this time, and Wayne didn’t stop her.
Geoffrey stood by the floor–to–ceiling window, cigarette in hand, replaying Maureen’s words from yesterday in his mind.
She’d had a miscarriage. That child was long gone.
A knock sounded. He stubbed out the cigarette. “Come in.”
Maureen pushed the door open to find Geoffrey silhouetted against the light, his tall frame clad in a crisp suit.
It reminded her of their first meeting over a decade ago–much like today, him standing bathed in sunlight, instantly capturing her gaze.
Geoffrey’s hawk–like eyes traced the lines of Maureen’s delicate face and striking figure.
While his gaze lingered, she shut the office door and approached him.
“Mr. Sutton, after our talk yesterday, I checked old records. I misunderstood before. We really were married.
“There’s something I need to explain. When I mentioned the blind date… I was actually covering for my friend.”
Geoffrey had uncovered the truth after that day.
Her voluntary explanation surprised him, a flicker of astonishment crossing his eyes.

Maureen’s clear eyes gazed at him as she shook her head. “I’ve decided to regain my memories, but there are things I don’t understand. I need to ask you.”
She leaned in close, and Geoffrey caught the view at her chest.
“What do you want to know?”
His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly.
“Were we deeply in love before?”
Geoffrey’s expression shifted.
Pretending not to notice, Maureen continued, “Though I’ve forgotten many people and things, I’m certain I’d never marry someone I didn’t love.”
Geoffrey’s dark pupils shimmered with unreadable emotion.
Was it joy or something else stirring within him?
“Yes. You loved me deeply.”
His words came measured, his eyes unexpectedly reddening.
Maureen felt the tension around him dissipate–her gamble had paid off.
She rose on tiptoe, closing the distance between them. “I want to see if I can love you again. May I?”
Before Geoffrey could respond,
her lips brushed against his thin ones.
Every drop of blood in Geoffrey’s veins froze.
Her kiss was artless as drifting feathers. Watching her clumsy attempt, Geoffrey could no longer resist taking control
of the kiss.
The curtains fell around them,
plunging the room into dimness where only faint rustling could be heard.
Almost there!
Maureen dug her nails into her palm to stay focused.
“Knock, knock, knock!”
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
“Geoffrey.”

Chapter58
It was Andrea.
She’d ignored Wayne’s attempts to stop her and come to the office.
Finding the door closed, she had a hunch something was going on.
Maureen hadn’t expected anyone to come looking for Geoffrey in the middle of the day.
Frowning, she had to put her plan on hold and pushed Geoffrey away.
“Someone’s here.”
She dodged his kiss and said shyly.
Geoffrey listened to the incessant knocking with frustration.
A minute later, the office door opened.
