No Mercy, No Forgiveness Novel Ch 74

“This could also promote your company.”

Maureen wanted to get close to him, as much as possible, privately.

Geoffrey detested these phony image campaigns.

His instinct screamed refusal, yet his mouth formed: “Alright.”

“I’ll go prepare then.”

Maureen turned to leave.

Before reaching the door, Geoffrey’s low, gravelly voice trailed after her.

“If you’re visiting the child, you should dress more appropriately.”

Maureen froze.

Glancing down, she discovered two buttons undone on her blouse.

The heat had made her unfasten them earlier in the office–she’d forgotten to redo them.

She scurried out, rushing to the restroom to fasten her clothing.

When she emerged, her face burned crimson.

Head lowered, she collided with a solid figure.

“Sorry.”

Looking up, Maureen met Sean’s aristocratic features.

An involuntary shudder ran through her as she stepped back, widening the distance.

Working at Corporate Giant these days meant unavoidable glimpses of Sean.

She usually took detours–today’s direct collision startled her.

Bracing for his scorn, Maureen held her breath.

Sean watched her recoil, his throat tightening. Wordless, he strode past her toward Geoffrey’s office.

Maureen breathed a sigh of relief.

Sean was the type to count every penny and repay every slight.

Earlier, she’d angered him by impersonating Katherine at that matchmaking event.

Just because he hadn’t made a move against her at the bar last time didn’t mean he never would.

Sometimes this man seemed even more terrifying than Geoffrey,

Geoffrey never laid hands on women, resorting at most to emotional neglect.

But Sean showed women no mercy whatsoever.

She remembered accidentally brushing against him once later, thugs dragged her to the outskirts and left her to die.

Recalling this, Maureen shuddered with fear.

CEO’s Office.

Sean barged into Geoffrey’s office without knocking.

a month

“Geoffrey, Wayne mentioned you’re hiring an external CEO?”

Sean cut straight to the chase.

Geoffrey’s sharp brows knitted, his voice gravelly: “Knock before entering next time.”

Sean froze.

Visiting here used to feel like dropping by the local market – since when did he need to knock?

But sensing Geoffrey’s foul mood, he yielded.

“Fine.”

Sean and Geoffrey weren’t just public acquaintances anymore – they’d become brothers.

He couldn’t grasp it: “How can we trust an outsider with the CEO position?”

“The rest of the Sutton Family are circling like vultures for that seat.”

In the past, Geoffrey might have hesitated, but now…

He scoffed: “Who’d dare?”

Seeing Geoffrey’s confidence, Sean suddenly remembered–Corporate Giant and Sutton Group now answered solely to him.

Only one person might challenge him.

But that person wouldn’t.

Sean lazily leaned back on Geoffrey’s office sofa: “No one dares eye that position now.

By the way, Geoffrey, I just ran into that… little deaf girl. What did Maureen want?”

For some reason, he didn’t want Geoffrey noticing his changed attitude toward Maureen.

Nor did he want Geoffrey knowing Maureen had once saved him.

Selfishly, he hoped Geoffrey would keep Maureen at arm’s length.

He couldn’t explain this impulse.

Geoffrey observed Sean’s unusual attention toward Maureen–both past and present.

This attention seemed more than mere dislike.

Years later, Geoffrey would realize it wasn’t dislike at all.

It was all to catch Maureen’s eye!

Present–day Sean resembled schoolboys who bully girls they fancy.

“She asked me to visit the disabled children we sponsor,”

Geoffrey replied.

Sean knew he detested attending such occasions, and jumped in: “I’ll go in your place.”

Geoffrey looked at him deeply.

“No need, I’ve already promised her.”

Sean’s eyes flashed with disappointment, and he couldn’t help but ask: “Don’t you hate showing up at these kinds of events the most?”

Geoffrey noticed his unease and said calmly: “There’s an exception to everything!”

Sean didn’t stay here long before heading out.

When he came to the outdoor skywalk, he saw Maureen chatting and laughing with people from the company.

That smile was something he had never seen before.

The assistant approached him: “Young master, the old master wants you back.”

“Got it.”

Maureen came to the newly opened music classroom, sat at the piano, and taught the disabled children how to play.

Geoffrey stood outside the door surrounded by a group of bodyguards.

It was the first time he had seen Maureen play the piano; the clear and melodious piano music was like a babbling brook, refreshing the heart.

Geoffrey gazed at the faint smile on Maureen’s face, one he rarely saw.

“Teacher Maureen, you’re amazing.”

“How did you do it?”

The children looked at Maureen with admiration.

Compared to other sponsors, they felt more affection for Maureen wearing a hearing aid, probably because they could relate.

Maureen told them that with hard work, anyone could become exceptional.

Geoffrey had been waiting outside for her.

He used to think Maureen was just a spoiled rich girl, utterly useless- but now he realized that wasn’t true.
