Fireworks continued to explode over the Pugford River, lighting up the night sky. But hardly anyone was watching anymore. They were all running in the same direction.
Cassandra was puzzled. “Where is everyone going?”
“Someone’s trying to jump off the top of Royal Skyline Tower!” a young man answered.
Jump?
Cassandra stood up immediately, Royal Skyline Tower was nearby, approximately 700 feet
away.
“Mr. Scott, should we go take a look?”
Ryan didn’t look surprised. He just gave a faint chuckle and muttered, “She knows how to go all in.”
But with all the footsteps and fireworks around them, she didn’t catch what he said clearly.
“What did you say?”
“Let’s go. We might as well see for ourselves.”
Cassandra held onto the dog’s leash and headed in that direction. Then, Ryan took the chance to grab her hand. “It’s crowded, so let’s not get separated.”
Tonight, the scene at the Pugford River was restless. First came a trust–fund baby who set off a whole night of fireworks to win a woman’s smile, and now a dramatic love story was unfolding on the rooftop of Royal Skyline Tower
When Cassandra and Ryan arrived, the crowd had just erupted into applause.
“She’s safe! They saved her!”
“Finally! I was so worried watching all that.”
Cassandra turned to ask someone nearby, “Who was trying to jump?”
A plump woman chimed in cheerfully, “From what I heard, it was some businessman’s wife. Poor thing… She’s pregnant, too.”
“I heard the guy’s last name is Dorsey,” another man cut in. “He’s from a wealthy family in Hannover. These rich folks, I swear. They have everything, but still manage to push their wives to jump off buildings…”
Hannover, and the Dorsey name. Among the powerful families in Hannover, there was only one Dorsey family.
Could it be Cameron? So the pregnant woman who tried to jump tonight was Annabelle?

“Oh, look! They made up, and they’re hugging now!”
“That’s great! That’s just great!”
Amid all the cheering, Cassandra looked up.
Royal Skyline Tower was far too tall to make out the faces of the couple on the rooftop, but the man was tall, and the woman was petite. The two held each other tightly and seemed like at perfect match.
Ryan curved his lips slightly. “Her dress looks a lot like yours today,”
The night breeze blew again, lifting the hem of Annabelle’s white dress high into the air.
Cassandra glanced down at her outfit. Aside from the sunflower pattern on hers, it was nearly identical.
A white dress and long black hair. If someone looked at them from behind, they might mistake them for the same person.
“Oh, wow, it’s all over the news now! It’s the Dorseys from Hannover. It’s Cameron Dorsey!”
“I just saw it too! The pictures are out!”
Cassandra’s phone buzzed with a notification from Twitter. She opened it, and right at the top was a high–resolution photo.
Cameron and Annabelle were standing atop the skyscraper in each other’s arms. The night sky formed a backdrop for their embrace, and even the fireworks exploding over the river seemed to bear witness to their moment.
“Does it hurt?” Ryan asked beside her.
Cassandra shook her head.
“15 years together, and this is how it ends. If you feel sad, just cry. I won’t tell a soul,” he softly said.
“I won’t. I made a choice back then, and now it’s his turn. There’s no reason to grieve,” she replied.
