Said ‘I Don’t at My Own Wedding Ch 59
Maybe it was Tatum.
Maybe it was the whole crew she brought in.
Either way, once we launched, the place just clicked.
Most of the new hires were familiar faces from our old company, so it didn’t feel like starting from scratch–just like we got a new office and a serious pay raise.
Back in the day, I handled pretty much all of Jace’s business negotiations.
So once I had my own firm, I reached out to those same partners.
And the moment their contracts with Jace ended, guess who they signed with?
Yup. Me.
Look, business is business. Loyalty doesn’t pay the bills–and none of them were stupid.
Of course they’d go with the person who could deliver better results.
I wasn’t about to let some nostalgic bullshit stop me from securing the bag.
Especially not after what Jace pulled.
But of course… drama always finds a way.
I’d just signed a couple huge contracts.
Was humming my way into the office, feeling damn near euphoric–only to see a crowd forming near the lobby entrance.
And smack in the middle?
Jace’s mom, throwing a full–blown tantrum at the front desk.
The poor receptionists were barely out of college–no way they knew how to handle this kind of crazy.
I marched straight over.
“Well, well, look who’s here putting on a Broadway preview.”
“Didn’t know the Queen Mother did matinees.”
The second she saw me, she dropped to the floor, smacking her thighs.
“Look at this slut! Broke up with my son and now she’s poaching his employees!”
“Trying to destroy us, one by one!”
Her voice carried, and more people gathered.
I didn’t bother engaging–I just pulled out my phone and hit record.
She pointed at me like I was Satan himself.

Chapter 12
“I treated her like my own daughter! And what does she do?”
“Climbs into someone else’s bed and breaks my son’s heart!”
“She stole his staff. his clients–and now she’s rubbing it in our faces!”
Whispers buzzed through the crowd.
Of course. Nothing gets an audience like slut–shaming.
Tatum couldn’t take it anymore.
“You got proof? Or you just here to run your mouth?”
That gave the woman a one–second pause.
Then she doubled down:
“What proof do you need?! She’s young–how else could she land those deals?”
“You think anyone’s throwing six–figure contracts at her for her business savvy? Please.”
“I’ve held my tongue, but the truth always comes out.”
“My poor son–betrayed, blackmailed, humiliated–and she walks off with his clients like it’s nothing.”
“He’s too decent to go after her, so here I am! I’ve got nothing to lose!”
She was sobbing so hard, you’d think she deserved an Oscar.
If I hadn’t lived this mess myself, I might’ve actually bought her performance.
I ignored the crowd, locked eyes with her, and said,
“Shouldn’t you be at the hospital? I mean, your daughter–in–law is due any day now, right?”
“What’s wrong, huh?”
‘Want me to tell everyone about how your son cheated and knocked up another woman?”
“As for the clients? I earned them. Your son lost them because he’s incompetent.”
“I don’t sugarcoat. So if anything I said hurt your feelings, let me know–I’ll say it again, louder.”
She opened her mouth to clap back, but I cut her off:
“Oh, and by the way–I was bitten by a dog when I was a kid.”
“So being around you? Kinda triggering.”
“I’ve already called the cops. And don’t worry–I’ve got everything you said on video.”
“Save it for the report.”
Because I refused to “settle,” she got booked for public disturbance and defamation.
Ten days in holding.
Tatum and I were having lunch when we heard.
