I said I would stay away from her. Hell I promised myself that I would stay away from her. But all my promises were always tempting to break. This one was no different. 1

But then I saw that fucking guy talking to her so closely that it looked too intimate from my perspective. I didn’t like another guy in her breathing space, so close to her that they’ll be able to take in the scent of her sweet perfume.

I promised her parents that she’ll be safe with me. But truly, she wasn’t. Because I was like every other guy when they look at Mia. I wanted her just the same as they want her. Just that my need for her was

more severe that no one else can compare.

I didn’t want to ruin her, but my dark heart craved her.

I watch the asshole lean forward, his mouth moving as he spoke. I was sure he was saying some stupid line to get her to fall into his trap. I knew guys like that, they were no good.

Guys like that aren’t good enough for Mia.

“Here you go,” The lunch lady drew my attention away from Mia and the guy. “Some fries right?” She motions for the fries on the tray. I nodded stiffly, grabbing the tray and not waiting for the fried chicken.

The lunch lady stops when she realized I wouldn’t be coming back for that chicken. I saw red as I stormed my way to them, not caring that they were in the middle of a conversation.

Sue me, but he didn’t deserve her breath either or to hear the sound of her voice. In fact, he didn’t deserve to be so close to her or stare into her beautiful eyes.

“Move,” I seethed, my jaw clenching as I gripped the tray to stop myself from gripping him and hurling him away from her.

I watch him stiffen and I sensed his fear. I puffed out my chest in satisfaction. See, a pussy like that doesn’t deserve a girl like Mia.

I could feel her unwavering gaze on my face, sense her confusion for coming over here. Basically, my plan to avoid her as much as possible to fight off this hunger for her had just gone down the drain.

Blame it on the ass sitting across from her.

The guy turns around slightly, noticeable sweating like a fucking bucket. I could fill a whole tank with this ass’s sweat. Another reason why he wouldn’t be good for her. He’d have her reek of his perspiration by just being near.

“Move you’re in my seat.” I seethed.

If I have to say this to this little fucker again, I’d lose my patience that was already running thin and force

him out myself.

He visibly gulps and had the nerve to send Mia a smile. I counted to ten because if I don’t, I’d fucking slam my fist on his face. I wasn’t an idiot to not know the signs of jealousy and that I was.

“I guess I’ll see you later or some other time?”

I narrowed my eyes at the nerve of this guy. His balls were practically non–existent with how his voice quivered in fear.

Definitely doesn’t deserve my Mia. 

“Not going to happen. Now move before I move you myself. “I warned. I didn’t want to get suspended for kicking some kid’s ass but I was this close to not giving a fuck and bashing his damn face. It was like he was asking for it honestly.

Mia was clearly not into him which was a good thing. A very good thing….

So that calmed me down a bit.

The guy scurried away a few moments later, finally able to grasp that he wouldn’t win in a battle with me.

What a damn pussy.

I took his seat, stiffening slightly when my thigh brush against Mia’s. An image of me between those thighs made my cock twitch. Shit.

“Woah that was intense. Big brother mode fully activated.” That blonde guy whose always attached to Mia’s hips laughed. And just like that my dick deflates. Big brother?

I glared at the idiot that ruined my perfect image fucking Mia. He literally smacked reality in my face. Mia and I weren’t blood related but us being together would be a scandal I wouldn’t want to create in her

Or shatter her parents trust in me. I may not be too fond of them but they did provide a roof over my head even though they could’ve easily gotten out of the situation my mom got them into.

“Shut it,” I glared at him. His eyes grew wide and his hands lift quickly into surrender. I used to be jealous of the guy when he was always so close to Mia, until Brian mentioned he was gay.

I never felt so relieved in my life before.

“Seriously what’s with you two today?” He grumbles, resuming eating his nasty looking lunch.

Mia hadn’t said a word since I showed up here. Intrigued by her silence, I looked over at her. I was just supposed to take a peek but end up staring at her pretty face like my life depended on it.

Her skin was so smooth and creamy. I felt them under my lips. God how I wish I could just kiss her right now. I could taste her with my tongue…..

She might have sensed my stalkerish gaze because she takes a quick peek at me. Her face flames quickly when our eyes connected. She swiftly snaps her head forward and I bit into my bottom lip to stop the smile from emerging.

I forced myself to turn away from her and started eating my fries. I was surprised she didn’t ask me why I 

was here.

A few minutes in the most awkward silence I had to endure in my life, Colby’s phone does a slight ping on the table. He quickly reaches for it and soon has a bright smile on his face. “Ugh, I’ll see you guys later, I need to check something,”

He was already out of there with his tray in his hand before Mia could tell him to wait. Now it was just us

two.

I peeked at her in the corner of my eyes, smiling slightly as I notice her frozen nervous posture. Clearing my throat to break the ice, I mumble. “You’re awfully quiet. Doesn’t seem like you,”

She stiffens even more at hearing my voice. But then after a few fleeting seconds murmurs. “I don’t think I have anything to say,”

I swallowed the fry, lips tugging up slightly at her breathy tone. ” Not even about what happened in that closet?” I whispered, purposely making my thigh brush against hers. I’m satisfied by the sound of her shocked gasp.

“No. Because you left me in there. And now decide to show up like a raging bull.” She grits out, her hands fisting on the table after she places her half–eaten sandwich down.

My jaw ticked. “You know why I had to leave Mia,”

She turns to face me and glares at the side of my face. “I don’t know Kade. Why don’t you refresh my memory?” She snapped lowly.

Frustration weighed heavy in my gut. She was already making this difficult by looking up at me with those pretty doe–like eyes. I turn to her, leaning forward but not closing too much distance to have others wonder.

“Because I would’ve fucked you in there. Did you want that?” I hissed lowly, tearing my eyes away from

Seeing the coast is clear, I lean even more forward, causing her to gasp. “Did you want me to take that too?

My eyes flicker down to her lips and my mouth part. Shit this was a bad idea to come here. I should’ve stayed away. Fuck I should’ve stayed away.

“Mia,” I whispered in pain.

“Oh there you are Kade!”

I grit my teeth, breathing out heavily as I pull away from Mia swiftly. Mia stiffens when she hears Brianna’s voice.

“Uh I have something to do,” Mia grumbles as she rushes to rise to her feet.

“Mia,” I called out, feeling like an ass.

She shook her head. “It’s fine Kade. “With that she scurried away from me like I was the devil. “Where’s Mia going?” Brianna asked in confusion as she sits down on the seat Mia had just been on.

I don’t answer her, conflicted if to run after Mia or stay seated there to give her some space. I did just admit to her that I was close to fucking her in the janitor’s closet. She’d definitely need a breather after

that.

Anyway, it’s so cool that you’re being an overprotective brother to her. It’s been going around that you’re warning guys off of her.” Brianna giggles, slapping my arm lightly.

I only grunt in annoyance and continue eating my fries, hoping Mia was okay with that information I had just admitted to her.
