Tangled in His Sheets Novel Ch 35
Two weeks have gone by since what happened between Kade and me in the car. Mom and Dad didn’t seem to notice the tension between us and if they did, they never questioned it. But what shocked me was that Kade and Austin seemed to be now all buddy–buddy.
We tried our best to stay out of each other’s way. But of course, the rides to school soon became unbearable and awkward so he later decided to take rides with Brian to school and after school.
I can’t say I didn’t feel that green bitch poking her way into my gut at the thought of Brianna’s hands on Kade. But around school, when I do get a glimpse of him and Brianna, she’s oddly not latching onto him. 1
In fact, he seemed to be completely ignoring her half the time, instead his eyes would draw to me. Our eyes would always meet as if they were magnets.
But he’d snap his gaze away from me and I’d do the same. When we got home though, I’d stay in my room and binge another show. I’d stiffen when I hear his door close or hear his footsteps stop beside my door, as if he was contemplating if to come in or not.
But then he would not and the next day it plays over and over.
Until today.
“I’m so tired…” Colby yawns beside me as I start to pack the books back into my bag.
“Tell me about it. I stayed up till three a.m watching stupid gumball.” I sighed. It wasn’t a lie, I did binge watch all episodes of gumball to ward off any thoughts of Kade.
It helped a little while until I heard his door crack open and his footsteps head down the hall.
“Okay, you win. I have nothing to say that would justify why I’m so tired. “Colby admitted, while lightly slapping his cheek. “Stay up dammit.” He grunts slapping the other cheek.
I laugh, gripping his hand. ” Okay stop abusing your cheeks. “I pry his hand away from his cheek and
Colby groans.
Rolling my eyes I went back to packing my bag. “Hey today’s Friday!” He suddenly yells.
Thankfully the halls were almost empty seeing as everyone was making their way home.
I look at him from the corner of my eye. ” Yeah it is……” I trailed unsurely. Seriously what was wrong with
Colby today?
“That means no school tomorrow. Which means we can hang out. Go to the park, Repaint your room, run
around the neighborhood naked-

I turn to Colby fully. “Colby, what the hell is going on with you?”
Colby sighs, his shoulder leaning on the locker beside mine. ” My dad called my mom last night. He wants to have me tomorrow the entire day. I hate divorced parents.” He grumbles.
“Colb,” I whispered.
Colby mom and dad divorce was finalized about a month ago. The wound is still fresh for Colby. True he never got along with his dad but he still imagined them to be end game.
Sadly it couldn’t be further from reality now he had to be going from home to home while his parents throw insults after insults after each other.
“Funny thing is that he’s threatening to take full custody of me. He says she’s not safe. “He rolls his eyes.
I blanched in shock. Not safe? Miss. San is the safest person I know.
и
Apparently she has little time for me and likes to indulge in sweet things. In other words she’s not safe because she weighs more than she used to a month ago. What an asshole.” He rolls his eyes, jaw ticking.
I nodded agreeing with him. “A very big one.”
“So what you’re going to do?” I asked, hoping he’d not say he’d kidnap his father and beat him up for insulting his mom. I mean I get where he was coming from, but was going to jail really worth it?
He shrugs. “I’m not going to his place. I think it’s better if I don’t actually. My murder instinct has been really high lately. He should really count himself lucky.”
I winced knowing he meant every word. “Colb-
I started but he shakes his head. “You know I don’t like pity Mia. Don’t start now.” He warned looking at me pointedly. I nod slowly and cracked a smile to ease the tension.
Suddenly his eyes snap away from me and look behind me with curiosity. “Uh I think Brianna is coming over here.”
My brows shot up in startlement. We haven’t said much to each other since Kade and I have been avoiding each other. But not the same can be said for her brother who spoke to me occasionally and even has my number.
What could she possibly want now?
I looked at Colby, gauging his reaction. I squint in doubt. “Are you sure it’s over here?” I whispered. Colby nodded, tearing his eyes off of Brianna to settle on me. “I’m pretty sure. Her gaze is set on you.”
I sighed heavily. Great.
I remain facing Colby until her sickly sweet voice said my name behind me. I reluctantly turn around and

cracked a forced smile. ” Yeah?”
Her lips form a sweet cherry smile. “It seems like we haven’t talked in ages.”
It’s not like we were ever friends to begin with.
“Really? I haven’t noticed,” I faked a thoughtful look. I really didn’t care if we talked honestly. While she can be able to parade with Kade as she pleases, Kade and I had to stay feet apart to not suggest anything
other than being friendly. She was lucky. And I was not.
I couldn’t have the guy I wanted and she could easily take him in seconds.
She nods. “I don’t want us to be strangers….you know especially…..” She drawled with a slight blush on
her cheeks.
I looked at her stunned at her flush face, yet intrigued to know what she was trying to suggest. ‘ Especially what?”
She sucks her lipgloss coated lips between her teeth and looked at me nervously. ” You know I’ve been trying my luck with Kade. It will only be right if you and I are a little more acquainted. I mean we can’t be strangers if we are going to be family someday.” 2
I blanched in shock, the blood leaving my face quickly. I knew she liked Kade, that was obvious. But to think so much into the future? That I didn’t know she was even considering.
Family?
I looked at her lost and confused. She looks even more flushed. “I mean we aren’t official yet, but I think I’m getting close to breaking his walls. I really like him Mia and I want him to like me too. Something tells me I have to get close with people he cares about to even have a chance in his heart,”
Why the hell was she telling me this? 1
I didn’t want to hear this.
I don’t like this feeling in my gut.
It feels nauseating. I want to vomit.
“Are you okay Mia?” Colby questions behind me softly. Worry swirling in his tone.
I nodded to reassure him but kept silent because my tongue felt suddenly too heavy.
Brianna continues without realizing her words were affecting me. ” And since he seems to care for you a lot, I think we should totally hang out and be friends.” 1
She reaches out and touches my arm with a bright smile on her face. “I can’t wait to get to know you more Mia. We’ll be like besties!” She giggled.

I looked at her tongue tied.
“By the way, I’m so sorry that Kade stopped the guys from approaching you-
Suddenly I’m not tongue tied anymore. “What?!” I cut her off.
She smiles. ” Kade’s been threatening all the guys in the school to stay away from you. You know how intimidating the guy can be, even the biggest guys backed off because of him. Seriously he’s like your personal bodyguard. ” She giggles.
I’m stunned by her words.
Kade warned guys to stay away from me?
“Wait Kade’s the reason guys literally run away from Mia now?” Colby snorted behind me and started laughing. (1
My grip around my bag tightens as I turn to close my locker, still unable to process everything she just told me in such a short amount of time.
“Yeah! He’s literally having those guys piss their pants. And to think I thought she’d get her one true love this way, he just had to go and ruin it,” She huffs.
I ignored her, finally feeling something other than jealousy. Pure anger.
Who did he think he was?
He had no right to act like a fucking bodyguard and ward guys off of me while he parades with Brianna. Yes, they weren’t acting like a couple but for how long until they are? It was clear that being a couple was Brianna’s goal.
I grit my teeth and turned to Brianna. ” If you’ll excuse me, I need to go home,” I told her and sidestep her before she could answer. (1)
“I
Okay, where are we going?” Colby asked as he catches up with me.
“Home of course,” I said, quickening my footsteps. If Brianna was still here, meant Brian hadn’t left the school’s compound. Which meant Kade was still here.
“I’ve been your best friend for years which means I know when you’re lying.” Colby snorts as he walks
beside me.
mind.” “You’re right,” I murmured, opening the door and stepped outside with my gaze roaming about. They quickly fall on the boy I was looking for. “I’m going to tell Kade a piece of my
