Alyssia stepped into the finance department and noticed that the atmosphere was not quite right.

Although the department was usually not noisy, there were always some sounds.

But now… it felt like everyone was even typing lightly on the keyboard.

It was quiet… a little creepy.

She didn’t care, went straight to the supervisor’s office and knocked on the door.

Without waiting for a response, she shouted, “Ms. Parker, I bought the socks for you. I went to several shopping malls this time, and finally bought the right one…”

Alyssia looked at Charlie standing at the door and blinked.

“Mr. Dixon? Why are you here?”

“No…” Brianna wanted to defend herself.

But Charlie didn’t give her a chance.

“So you’re abusing your power for personal revenge? Deliberately bullying and harassing an employee? As a department head, you resort in sich potty tactics against a newcomer who just started working, Brianna Parker?”

He called her by her full name, unable to hide his disgust. “Is this all you’re capable of?”

Brianna’s face was pale, her lips moved, but she couldn’t spit out a word.

Charlie was berating her–this man of poise and grace, this epitome of gentlemanly conduct–was now lashing out at her with such cutting words.

All because she had dared to boss around his precious darling….

Brianna thought, ‘Doesn’t he have an assistant himself? Doesn’t he often have people buy him coffee and handle chores?

“Why did I become a bully when it came to me?‘

Brianna fell heavily into the chair, fighting back tears.

Charlie had a cold face and didn’t look good on anyone, but Brianna clearly saw that when he looked at Alyssia, the sharpness in his eyes suddenly decreased.

“William insisted it has to be your interview. Minister Harrison even called about this matter personally. Are you still going or not?” he asked Alyssia.

Brianna’s tears finally fell uncontrollably.

How gentle and thoughtful!

For anyone else, attending would be the only option. But with Alyssia, Charlie would actually ask for her opinion–making it clear he’d shield her from this if she refused.

Just like how he’d protected her from Leonard’s legal notice before.

“If the company needs it, I will definitely go.” Alyssia’s tone was no

different from before, but Brianna felt that she was duplicitous and hypocritical.

Emotions came up, and Brianna couldn’t suppress it at all. She vented all the anger she received from Charlie on Alyssia.

“Then why all the excuses earlier? Diana called you repeatedly, and so did I–yet you either ignored us or gave evasive answers! If you truly put the company first and went there sooner, would Minister Harrison have needed to escalate this to Mr. Dixon?”

Charlie frowned heavily and was about to speak.

Alyssia has already said first, “Because I want to buy socks for my supervisor, buy a pair of socks for the major to write a manuscript. If I don’t buy the socks, will the manuscript be indispensable?”

Brianna was about to explode when he heard the socks.

She slapped the table. “Don’t change the concept for me, there are priorities, you are just looking for an excuse!”

Alyssia’s attitude was as good as ever. “If that’s what you say, that’s right. I deliberately shirked and didn’t put the company first, so I didn’t want to interview William. Then I won’t go.”

“Okay, if you don’t want to go, you won’t go.” Charlie cut off Brianna’s words, “You are not responsible for the incident, and you cannot be held

accountable.” 

“Brianna!” Diana panicked.

‘The responsibility is not on Alyssia, but on whom?

‘On me!

With such a big deal, can I still be promoted to the video side?‘ Diana thought.

Initially, she hadn’t wanted to wade into this mess–it was only after Brianna dangled substantial benefits in front of her that she jumped in headfirst

But now, only let her take the blame alone?

Brianna at least had her father to fall back on–if things went wrong, he’d shield her. Worst case, she could just laze around at home and still live comfortably.

But what did she have? It was for real–no respawns in this game.

Diana looked at Brianna at this moment, with an undercurrent of madness–the kind of desperate, unhinged energy that screamed “If you won’t save me now, we’re going down together!”

Diana threatened her.
