Abandoned Luna’s Revenge Novel Ch 28

I had been preparing for the Shadow Blade’s ball for over two weeks, and finally, tomorrow was the day. The D-day. Every second of these past few weeks had dragged on like a slow burn. Torture, in its purest form. My thoughts were consumed by Selene’s. My mate. The woman I had longed for every single night. I could practically feel her scent embedded in my memory. It was intoxicating.

The only reason I hadn’t rushed to Shadow Blade to be by her side was because I had responsibilities to take care of at my pack first. I needed to make sure Selene was walking into a safe, stable home, not one riddled with betrayal and snakes hiding behind smiles.

At the center of the weeds I needed to cut out were Clarisse and her father, Glen. I no longer trusted either of them. Not one bit.

Glen had served as the Gamma of our pack for years. He once held my trust. And Clarisse… well, she had spent the last two years trying every manipulative tactic she could to become my Luna. At first, I ignored it. Then I rejected her firmly. I told Glen plainly that I would never choose her. But they didn’t take the hint. Or maybe they thought I’d bend eventually under enough pressure.

They were wrong. Their scheme had been perfectly calculated; they intentionally sabotaged our pack’s operations, spread misinformation and using their influence to create instability. They believed that if things spiraled enough, I’d be forced to choose a Luna early to ‘restore order.’ And who better than Clarisse, the Gamma’s daughter?

But I had waited and collected every shred of evidence. And now that my parents were back, I decided to strike.

Yesterday, I called a special meeting of all the pack elders and senior-ranking members. On the surface it was just a regular pack meeting focused on internal restructuring. But in truth, it was a trap. One I had spent months perfecting.

And of course, I invited Clarisse and her father.

Clarisse showed up first in a high fashion gown that sparkled under the conference room’s chandeliers. She had on so much jewelry I couldn’t tell where her clothes started or ended. Her smug smile didn’t go unnoticed, I figured she was expecting a proposal or at least public acknowledgement of her ‘position’ as my Luna-to-be.

“Clarisse,” I greeted her politely, nodding. “Glad you could make it.”

“Of course, Alpha,” she said, her voice dripping with fake sweetness. “I wouldn’t miss this for the world.”

Glen walked in a few minutes after her. Unlike Clarisse, he didn’t look pleased. The moment he stepped into the room and saw who was seated around the long table, he became cautious. His eyes darted to Clarisse, and he shot her a look that said we may be in trouble. But she was too busy living in her own fantasy.

I stood from my seat at the head of the table and placed both hands on the surface, commanding silence with just my

posture.

“Thank you all for coming,” I began, scanning the room. “Before we begin today’s agenda, I’d like everyone to re- view a few documents.”

At my signal, Talon, my brother, stood and began distributing thick manila folders to each person in the room.

“In those files,” I continued, “are detailed records of grand larceny, unauthorized transactions, resource mismanage- ment, and various other acts of misconduct. All of it committed over the past two years. By none other than our cur- rent Gamma, Glen Peters, and his daughter, Clarisse Peters.”

The room erupted into murmurs, shocked gasps, and hushed conversations. Glen’s fists clenched on the table. Clarisse’s expression twisted from smugness to confusion to horror in a matter of seconds.

I let the tension grow before speaking.

“If everyone may,” I said calmly, tapping my fingers on the table, “please turn to page twenty-five.”

The flipping of pages filled the room.

“As you can see there’s a table well illustrated” I said, “It outlines the financial records of the Pack’s Department of Infrastructure and Development.”

“For those unaware, Glen has been in charge of that department for the past two years. It was only recently, with the help of my Beta, Zyler, that we uncovered his schemes,” I put my hand in my pocket and walked round the table “Over three hundred thousand dollars in pack funds have been siphoned out through Glen’s department and trans- ferred to offshore accounts.”

More gasps filled the room.

“This money was supposed to go to our community, it could have gone into a new pool or a play area for our young pups, at the park or even additional supplies for our warriors. Our children, ladies and gentlemen, have been denied safety and joy because someone wanted to play king behind my back.”

Clarisse looked down, breathing shallowly.

“Glen covered his tracks well. I’ll admit that,” I said, “but his one mistake was giving his daughter access to the very accounts he used to funnel the money.”

I looked directly at her.

“And unlike him… she wasn’t as careful.”

My gaze swept over them both waiting for who would crack first.

It was Glen. He let out a small laugh. The arrogance was still there, but he was panicking. He began flipping through the packet again as though he could pretend none of it mattered.

“Come one now? Surely none of you believe this,” Glen said casually, but his voice lacked confidence. “We weren’t trying to sabotage you, Alpha. We only wanted to… nudge you toward making the right decision. Taking a mate. It

would help you share responsibilities more efficiently, don’t you think?”

Instead Talon raised a brow. “Does that ‘sharing’ of responsibilities include the three hundred thousand you divert- ed?”

Glen’s smile twitched and he wiped the sweat forming at his temple. “Well… About that… I uh..I was simply… testing the strength of our department’s security systems. To see if funds could easily be diverted and how easy it was to bal- ance the books and all that.”

That was it. My last ounce of patience evaporated. “You think I’m a fool, Glen?!” I roared, slamming my palm down on the polished mahogany table.

Glen nearly jumped out of his seat, but he stammered a response “N..no… no Sir”

“Then why did think you can pull strings behind my back and not suffer the consequences?” I asked.

He didn’t respond to that and I stood up straighter and lowered my voice. “I think I know what your true plan was,” I adjusted my cuffs as I spoke. “Getting me to mate with your daughter was only step one of your plan, I know once I had taken Clarisse as my mate you would arrange for a nice little ‘accident’. Maybe one that would take out me and my family altogether. And after we were put of the picture you could safely take over the pack as your own. Isn’t that right Glen?”

Gasps erupted from the elders. Clarisse’s mouth opened, but no sound came out. Her hands shook.

“I have tolerated enough,” I said, coldly and clearly. “The evidence before you all is undeniable. The only thing left now is punishment.”

I turned to the table. “If anyone is in opposition to my decision, speak now.”

Not a single hand went up.

I turned back toward Glen and his daughter.

“I warned you,” I said, voice low but furious. “Over and over again, I gave you the chance to do the right thing. But you spat on every opportunity. You insulted my leadership and my family. Now is the time for reckoning.”

“Logan… Alpha, I didn’t mean… please… I’m sorry.” Glen tried pleading, but I no sympathy left. Not for him. Not after everything he’d done.

“I’m done listening to apologies,” I said flatly. “As of tomorrow morning, I will make a public announcement that you, Glen Peters, along with your wife Billie Peters and daughter Clarisse Peters, are permanently banished from the Iron Viper Pack.”

Gasps echoed around the room. Glen’s face crumpled in disbelief, and Clarisse let out a sharp, wounded screech from beside her father. “You can’t do that!” she shrieked, stepping forward. “You can’t just throw us out! This is our

home!”

I didn’t look at her. I kept my gaze on Glen. “Your son, Leander, is the only one I will spare. After months of covert surveillance and direct questioning, I am convinced he had no knowledge of your schemes. He is innocent and unlike

the rest of you, he has served this pack with genuine loyalty.”

Clarisse let out a loud sob, her voice rising in volume. “That’s not fair! I deserve a pardon too, It was all Dad’s doing! He made me do it I swear! I didn’t want to be involved!”

I ignored her again. “I’ve already had your apartment cleared out,” I continued, “Your belongings are packed, your car is parked out front, and you have ten minutes to leave this territory for good. If you value your lives, don’t push that deadline.”

Clarisse’s legs buckled and she fell to her knees, crying uncontrollably. Then she scrambled toward me, trying to wrap her arms around my waist. “Please! Please, Alpha Kieran… don’t do this. I’ll never disobey again! I’ll cut ties with my father I swear, just don’t banish me!”

Her desperation disgusted me. My brother stepped forward and pried her off me, dragging her sobbing form back across the room. She clawed at the air, screaming at her father, “This is all your fault! You ruined my life!”

Glen’s expression twisted with shame, but when he stood up, there was still defiance in his tone.

“This punishment… it’s too harsh,” he said, his fists clenched. “We made mistakes, yes, but banishment? You’re go- ing too far!”

I took a single step toward him. My voice dropped, heavy with controlled rage. “Too harsh? You of all people should know that I’m being lenient, Glen. How many Alphas do you know who would stop at banishment for someone who plotted to take over their pack from the inside?”

He opened his mouth, but nothing came out. He knew the answer. None. Most Alphas would’ve had him executed by now, along with everyone tied to him.

“Be thankful I’m not like most Alphas” I muttered. Right then, the double doors of the conference room creaked open. Two of my warriors stepped inside with Leander in tow. His eyes were heavy, filled with disappointment and betray-

Leander stepped into the room but didn’t go near his family. He stood apart, arms crossed as my warriors escorted the disgraced family out of the conference room. Clarisse sobbed the entire way, berating her father and blaming him for everything.

I stood still, unmoving, until the last of their footsteps faded. I stood completely still in the conference room even as the elders spoke amongst themselves, I was too angry to speak. A few minutes later I revived a mind link.

My Alpha, Glen and his family have been escorted out of the Pack territory. They’re gone.

The tension in my shoulders loosened. I exhaled, long and slow. The tightness that had been strangling my chest for weeks finally melted away. Good work Soldier. That’ll be all. I responded,

It was done. The poison had been cut out from my pack. My people were safe. And now… I could finally look for- ward. Tomorrow night, I would welcome my mate.

The thought made my chest swell. She was nearly here, I couldn’t stop the smile that tugged at my lips. I felt giddy like a young wolf fresh off his first shift.

I couldn’t wait to touch her. To claim her. To leave my mark on her skin and feel hers on mine. To bond in the most sacred way and know, without a doubt, that she was mine forever. And she would carry my children, our children. The future of this pack.

I had my mother’s old office cleared out just this morning. It had been untouched for years, but now, it was cleaned, freshly furnished, and ready. It would be her space now. Right next door to mine. That way, even when we were apart, I could feel her close.

The bond between mates was something I held sacred. I had long since looked forward to sharing that bond with someone and at long last my wait seemed to be coming to an end.
