I still couldn’t believe it.
We were actually kicked out of the Iron Viper pack.
I sat in the back seat of our car, arms crossed, teeth grinding together while Dad cursed under his breath in the driver’s scat. My palms were sweaty, my heart pounding in waves of rage and humiliation. This wasn’t how it was supposed
to go.
Dad always said Logan would never find out and even if he did, he would never resort to something as harsh as this. Ever since Logan became Alpha, Dad was convinced that he wasn’t truly fit to lead.
That’s when our plan started. And I was the center of it all. While Dad handled the financial side, I was the face of our charm campaign. I played the sweet daughter of a respected Elder. Always helpful. Always present. Always talk- ing.
I’d hang around the training grounds with Harper, my best friend, making sure people overheard the right conversa- tions. I made it seem like I loved the pack above all else and wanted nothing else but the good of everyone in it.
All perfectly crafted lies, dropped like seeds into fertile soil. And in less than a year Half the pack began to believe I was a natural fit for Luna. I didn’t even have to say it directly, they came to the conclusion on their own. Exactly how
we wanted.
I wasn’t even in Love with Logan, but as the plan drew out, fuck, I wanted to have sex with bim so bad. Just looking at him made a feral part of my brain light up. Watching him train with Zyler was almost painful. Harper and I used to sneak into the woods just to catch a glimpse of them shirtless in the sun.
I imagined being underneath him more times than I could count. His hands gripping my hips, his teeth grazing my neck. Zyler was also attractive, but I imagined him as a healthy alternative.
We also made sure to weed out the field of competition. We used rumors like knives, Harper and I. Anyone who so much as flirted with Logan suddenly found themselves whispered about. We killed their chances without ever laying a finger on them.
When Logan still didn’t fall for me, I got frustrated. But Dad always told me to trust the plan. “He’ll give in eventual- ly,” he said. “Just keep the pressure on.”
So when I got that summons to the council meeting this morning, my heart had nearly jumped out of my chest. I was so sure Logan had finally come to his senses. I walked into that council chamber with my head high, already prepar- ing the speech I’d give when he announced me as Luna.
Instead, I was handed a stack of Evidence. Logan had caught on to our scheme. I turned to Dad, but even he looked

shocked.
We weren’t prepared for this. I tried to beg Logan, hoping to appeal to whatever feelings he might have had for me. But his eyes were cold and then he dropped the final blow. Said we had ten minutes to leave the territory or risk
death.
I fell to my knees in front of everyone and told him it was all Dad’s fault. That I loved the pack. That I loved him.
But Logan didn’t flinch.
Instead, Zyler pulled me away from him and handed me over to the guards who led us outside like criminals.
And now here we were.
“You embarrassed yourself in there,” Dad growled as we walked to the car. “Throwing yourself at him like some des- perate little…”
“What was I supposed to do?” I snapped. “You;re the one that always said it would never come to this, but look around! We lost everything!”
Dad didn’t respond, instead I heard his voice in my head through the mindlink. “Get in the car. We’re not done here, Logan might have won the day, but I have other plans. Just have faith in your father.”
He must have used the Mindlink so the warriors wouldn’t overhear us. I nodded at him and slipped into the back seat. Mom sat in the front and we drove away from Iron Viper, our home.
The silence in the car felt heavy. I didn’t care about the view or where we were headed. All I could think about was how angry I was.
We were so close. I had spent years laying the groundwork. I made half the pack think I was fit to be Luna. Hell, maybe I could have been, if Logan hadn’t found that mate of his.
But what hurt most wasn’t getting caught. It was Leander. My own brother, that spineless, pathetic traitor. Logan let him stay. I still couldn’t believe it. Just because he didn’t stick with his family and get involved with us. That brat, can’t believe he wanted to be gamma so bad that he’d sell us out. I hope he chokes on it.
About forty minutes into the drive, we slowed near a tall iron gate. I glanced up from my scowl to take in the sight.
This wasn’t Iron Viper territory anymore and I wasn’t sure where we were. The estate ahead wasn’t as large as the one I grew up in, but it was beautiful none the less. The pack crest on the gate looked familiar.
The gate opened slowly, and we drove through. Dad pulled the car to a stop, and we all got out. The moment my heels hit the gravel, the manor door opened. A man walked out.
“Alpha Dorian,” my father said immediately, nodding in greeting.
“Glen peters, in the flesh” Dorian replied, stepping forward with a smile. “Right on time.” Then he added, with a ca- sual smirk, “You may have heard we suddenly have an opening in the Gamma position.”
Both men laughed. Loud, like they had shared many plans already. My jaw clenched as I glanced between them. So

this was the next phase of Dad’s plan? Was Alpha Dorian in on it?
I didn’t trust people easily, but it seemed moving forward I would have to accommodate this new Alpha. A few more people stepped out from the house. Alpha Dorian turned and gestured toward them.
“This is my Luna, Isadora,” he said, motioning to the tall, graceful woman beside him. “And this is our daughter Sylvia… and her mate, Ryder.”
Sylvia was stunning. Blonde hair. Pale skin. Striking blue eyes that mirrored her father’s. She stood like she owned the world.
I’ve always known I was attractive. I had Blonde hair and icy blue eyes as well. But next to Sylvia, I felt like second pick.
What really caught my attention, though, was her mate. Ryder. He seemed annoyed to be here, he threw unwelcoming scowls at everyone and most notably Sylvia. There was a weird dynamic here and I found it interesting.
As I analyzed the Alpha Dorian’s family Sylvia did the same to mine, her eyes drifted to me, scanning me head to toe. It was clear by the look on her face that she didn’t think I was welcome there.
It was fine by me. I didn’t come here to make friends. Dad and Alpha Dorian resumed their catch-up, laughing and talking like old war generals reconnecting after a battle.
Somewhere in the middle of the conversation, I caught the name of their pack.
Frost Fang. My eyes widened slightly. It all started to make sense. Shadow Blade… the pack where Logan’s precious little mate was going to be introduced soon was hosting a ball, a celebration. If I wasn’t mistaken, the Shadow Blade territory was just a few miles from here.
I suddenly felt a new wave of determination. Logan had thrown us out like trash, and now he thought he got to live happily ever after? With some mate he just met? Hell no.
That girl, whoever she was, didn’t spend the last two years on the perfect plan to be the perfect Luna. I didn’t throw away everything just to walk away quietly. No, I was going to Shadow Blade tomorrow night, and I would make Lo- gan mine.
But I couldn;t just waltz into Shadow Blade, I needed allies, and fast.
I decided to cut into my father’s conversation with the Alpha. “Um, excuse me…” When they stopped talking I cleared my throat and spoke again “I was wondering if Your pack got invited to the Shadow Blades ball happening tomor- row?”
Alpha Dorian raised a brow at my request. “Yes, we got invited, but shouldn’t you be going with Logan, Isn’t he your
mate?”
“He’s not my mate,” I admitted, “My dad and I…. we tried to convince him. We tried to get him to accept me as his
mate. But he refused.”
“And we think we know why” I paused, “He found out a few weeks ago that Alpha Kieran’s daughter is his mate. He

plans to claim her at the dance tomorrow. I can not let that happneed”
Suddenly Sylvia spoke, an eerie smile spreading across her face. “Selene,” she said quietly. “Of course.”
“You know her?” I asked.

“Oh, I know Selene.” Her voice turned cold, and her eyes darkened. “And don’t worry, I’ll help you” Sylvia turned her head slightly “Father?”
Alpha Dorian immediately answered her “Yes, sweetheart?”
“I think Clarisse should come to the ball with us tomorrow night. I think she needs one last shot at making Logan
hers.”
I don’t know why Sylvia suddenly wants to help me and I don’t care. I just need them to help me get close enough to Logan. I can tell something is off about Sylvia, she’s definitely not the type of person you can trust.
Sylvia smiles wide when her father nods and begins to walk around me “I’m so sorry you’re suffering at the hands of that manipulative little brat, do you know she tried to steal my mate as well? Seems like a trend. Ever since she found out Alpha Kiera was her real father she’s been increasingly vicious even towards me, and to think I called her my sis- ter once.”
I know the story is unbelievable, but I let her tell it all the same. I needed Logan to be mine and nothing else.
“If you want to get Logan back,” Sylvia continued “You need this” She pulled out a tiny vial and handed it to me. Was she expecting me to drug Logan?
“This will lower his guard. Make him more… receptive,” she said, almost playfully. “Put it in his drink, only a few drops. Get him alone. Let nature take its course. I kid you not he won’t be able to keep his hands off you. Just make sure he marks you white you guys are having sex to permanently seal the deal.”
I can’t believe this girl was suggesting so casually that I drug Logan. And I thought I was schemer, nah, next to Sylvia I was a puppy, the girl was She was downright evil.
I stared at the vial in my hand. Well it was too late to go back now. Might as well shake hands with the devil. I clutched the vial and slipped it into my pocket.
Sylvia placed a hand on my shoulder. “Don’t worry,” she said sweetly. “You’re doing him a favor. You’re saving him from a lifetime of disappointment.”
