Abandoned Luna’s Revenge Novel Ch 30

I could still feel the sting of my family’s hatred and the humiliation they put me through back in Frost Fang. That pain hadn’t gone away, but I had learned to overcome it. Here, in Shadow Blade, things were different. I finally had what I had always wanted, love, care, and the sense of belonging that came from my current family. Through our shared bond, I could feel my father’s steady pride and Alina’s warmth wrapping around me like a shield. It was something I would do anything to protect.

I had just grabbed a drink near the edge of the ballroom, watching the crowd, when I heard my name being shouted. Lyra came running toward me, her face lit up with excitement. She grabbed both of my hands, nearly spilling my drink.

“Selene! You have to come with me right now,” she blurted out, speaking so fast I could barely keep up. “I found him… my mate! You have to meet him. He’s amazing. You’ll see!”

Before I could even answer, she tugged at my arm and started pulling me through the crowd. My heels slid slightly on the polished floor, but I let her lead me.

We stopped in front of a tall, broad-shouldered man who looked to be in his mid twenties. His presence was com- manding, but his smile was easy and warm. His dark hair was neatly combed back, and his eyes were sharp and alert. There was no mistaking he was clearly a ranked wolf.

“This is Zyler,” Lyra said, practically glowing. “He’s the Beta of the Iron Viper pack.”

Zyler extended his hand to me politely. “It’s an honor to meet you, Selene.”

I smiled and shook his hand. “You’ve been blessed with a wonderful mate,” I told him sincerely. “Who also happens to be my best friend, so I hope you’ll love and cherish her the way she deserves.”

“I will,” he said without hesitation. “Lyra is an exceptional woman, and I do hope you’ll come visit her often when I take her back with me to Iron Viper.

Lyra blushed furiously and giggled like a love struck pony. “Oh Zyler, stop it, you’re making me blush” She squeezed my arm affectionately. “I wanted you to be the first to know, before I introduce him to my parents.”

I gave her a smile and a quick hug. “I’m happy for you, Lyra. Truly.”

After that, I left them to enjoy their moment together. I realized I hadn’t seen Hunter in a while. He’d mentioned earli- er that he was helping Father with some pack business, so it was just Axel and me for the rest of the evening,

Axel led me around the ballroom, introducing me to pack members and visiting guests. The room was filled with laughter, music, and the scent of perfume and wine. People were dressed in fine clothes, velvet dresses, crisp suits,

and elegant jewelry catching the light from the chandeliers. It should have been enjoyable, but after a while, the sheer number of greetings, handshakes, and polite small talk started to weigh on me.

At some point, I lost sight of Axel in the crowd. I didn’t panic; instead, I decided to wander a little on my own. I stopped here and there, speaking briefly to different people.

I was about to step toward the refreshment table when I bumped into a young woman I didn’t recognize. My shoulder brushed hers, and I immediately said, “I’m sorry.

She turned toward me with narrowed eyes and a sneer. “Figures,” she muttered, her voice dripping with disdain. “I guess it’s true what they say”

I blinked, caught off guard. “Excuse me?”

“I’ve heard a lot about you,” she said, her tone making it clear that it wasn’t meant as a compliment.

I straightened slightly. “Knowing a lot about me doesn’t give you the right to speak to me that way. You should work on your manners”

As I turned to leave, her voice rose louder, drawing the attention of a few nearby guests. “Oh Running away already? I knew it was your specialty, but this has gotta be a new record huh?”

I stopped mid-step. Heat crawled up the back of my neck, but I refused to let it show on my face. This reeked of Sylvia’s handiwork. She had probably sent this woman to provoke me, but she clearly didn’t understand that I was no longer the same person she remembered.

I turned back slowly, meeting the young woman’s stare. “We don’t know each other,” I said evenly. “Why don’t you tell me your name?”

She ignored the question and instead tossed another insult my way.

I kept my expression calm, my voice steady. “It’s clear you have a lot on your chest. Maybe you should let it all out.” Then, letting my gaze sweep over her face, I added, “And while you’re at it, you might want to smile more. This is a ball, after all. If you keep that scowl, you might not have anyone ask you to dance.”

Her cheeks flushed with anger. She stepped closer. “Bitch,” she hissed. “I heard you tried to steal my friend’s mate. And now you parade here like the innocent daughter of Alpha Kieran, how arrogant can you be?”

I kept my face still and waited for her to run out of words. When she paused to breathe, I asked, “Are you finished?”

Her voice shot up. “Logan is going to pick me as his chosen mate, and you can’t just show up and try to steal him like you did with Ryder!”

Logan? Who the hell was that? But I knew the other name she said. Ryder. So she was definitely put up to this by Sylvia.

I kept my eyes level on her and spoke plainly. “You should stop hanging out with Sylvia. She lies. She was the one who took Ryder from me, not the other way around.” I let each word land. “I have no idea who Logan is.” I stepped closer. “And if you come near me again, I won’t be as polite as I am now”

I turned to leave and in that moment I sensed her charge at me from behind. She grabbed for my hair. I caught her wrist mid-swing and twisted it, just enough to freeze her arm. With my other hand, I pressed two fingers into the ten- don above her elbow and turned. Her body followed the pressure. She lost balance and crashed onto the polished floor with a sharp cry. The music from the orchestra faltered then continued again. Conversations went quiet. Heads turned, to see what was happening.

She pushed up to her knees, hair loose around her face, cheeks red. She lunged again with her nails out. I stepped to the side, caught her forearm with one hand and her shoulder with the other, and used her speed against her. I pivoted and sent her across my hip. She hit the ground harder this time. A few gasps rose around us.

She scrambled up, fury twisting her features. She threw a wild punch. I lifted my forearm and blocked it. Then I hooked my foot behind her ankle and nudged her a bit. She fell again, palms slapping the floor. Her breath turned ragged.

She screamed and pushed up for another try, but Alina moved in front of me and raised one hand at the woman. “That’s enough,” Alina said.

The woman froze. Her eyes widened as she recognized who had stepped between us.

Alina’s tone was cool and clear. “Who are you, and who invited you to this Ball?”

The woman looked around and seemed to realize she had messed up, her voice quivered. “Cla… Clarisse. I’m the Gamma’s daughter from the Iron Viper pack. My pack was invited..”

Before I could answer, Zyler spoke from behind me, with a laugh “Oh please, Clarisse. You’re an ex-Iron Viper at best.”

I turned with several others. Zyler stood a few steps back, with Lyra holding onto his arm. He looked at Alina, then at me, and then back to Clarisse. “Clarisse and her parents were evicted yesterday from our pack. And so she is no longer a member of our pack.”

A ripple went through the crowd. I turned back to Clarisse. And I realized a familiar scent coming off her. -My old home.

“It seems you;ve always jumped ship so quickly, You smell like Frost Fang,” I said, my voice flat. “And it seems you’ ve been in contact with Sylvia.”

Alina growled at the mention of Frost fang. I thought she was going to rip Clarissa apart. She took a step toward Clarisse, but then steadied herself. I saw Alina close her eyes for one breath, then open them clear again. She kept her voice even. “Who invited you? Answer the question.” She looked to the room, then back at Clarisse. “My daughter only invited four people from frost fang and you’re not one of them.”

The crowd parted as my father, Alpha Kieran, approached with Hunter at his side. Hunter’s eyes moved fast over the scene, checking me first, then Alina, then Clarisse. Father’s face was calm, but I knew the set of his jaw. He did not like surprises.

Clarisse stared at him and Hunter like she was seeing ghosts. Her breath hitched. “I… I’m sorry,” she stammered, words tumbling over each other. “It was Sylvia. Sylvia and her family told me to come with them.”

Alina tilted her head. “Sylvia can’t invite people to our events.” Her gaze sharpened. “How dare you barge in here and then lie about it.”

“I’m not lying,” Clarisse said, voice thin now. “She said… ”

“Frankly i don’t care” Alina cut her off and lifted two fingers. Two warriors moved from the side of the hall with smooth steps. They stopped behind Clarisse and waited for the order.

“Take her to a cell,” Alina said.

Clarisse’s eyes flew wide. “No… wait! You can’t… .I swear I was invited!”

The warriors each took an arm and dragged her away while she continued screaming.Heads turned to follow. The or- chestra went silent now. Only her voice filled the hall until the heavy door down the corridor shut and muted the sound.

Alina lifted her chin and raised her voice. “Alpha Ashford! Luna Isadora! Please come forward and explain this.”

The crowd opened again. Alpha Dorian and Luna Isadora stepped through. Isadora’s cheeks were pink with embar- rassment, and she kept her hands folded tight at her waist. Dorian’s face was careful, but I saw the strain in the cor- ners of his eyes. They stopped a few feet away from us.

Dorian bowed his head to my father, then to Alina. “Luna,” he said. “Alpha.” His voice was steady, “We did not in- vite her. Sylvia did. Clarisse came with Sylvia and Ryder.”

My father spoke, his tone level. “Then where is Sylvia?”

Isadora looked around the room “um… She has to be here somewhere.”

“So neither of you know where your daughter is.” My father said, “Well, that’s not an issue, I’ll be happy to take you to her.”

Dorian frowned. “And where is that Alpha kieran?”

“In my cell,” my father replied,” awaiting a decision on punishment.”

A wave of shocked murmurs and gasps broke across the hall. An Alpha sending another Alpha to a cell? It was un-
