Abandoned Luna’s Revenge Novel Ch 10

I’ve never met a better girl in my life than Lyra and I was actually excited that I’d get to spend the night with her.

We took the elevator up to the sixth floor of the pack house. I had noticed that almost every door required fingerprint recognition to gain access. I sighed. There goes any plan to escape.

I followed Lyria down the hallway, she glanced back at me with that gentle smile of hers. “My room is just down this hallway”

Eventually we arrived at her room and when she opened the doors, my jaw dropped. Her room was nothing like mine. It was warm and cheerful, with soft lights, fluffy pillows, and colorful throws spread across the couch. It smelled like strawberries and lavender. There were personal touches everywhere, photos on the wall, books stacked on the night- stand, and a little tray of perfume bottles beside the mirror.

It felt like someone actually lived here. My room at Frost Fang was nothing but a box. Ghastly white walls, one stiff bed, a wooden chair, and a metal table. My father used to scoff when I asked for things like fans or a hairdryer. He called them ‘wants’, not ‘needs’.

I knew Sylvia’s room wasn’t like mine. She had everything. She had a four-poster bed with pink silk sheets, a private bathroom with a full length mirror just by the door, a walk-in closet, a vanity covered in designer makeup, and a sound system built into the walls. I used to pretend I didn’t care, but deep down, I did. It was impossible not to.

Frustration burned in my chest again, and I just wanted to take a shower and crawl under a blanket and disappear. My jaw clenched as I tried to blink back the tears stinging my eyes.

That’s when Lyra stepped in front of me with a pile of neatly folded clothes. “You and I are about the same height and build,” she said softly. “These should fit. Go ahead and shower first, mom should be almost done getting you something warm to eat.”

I must’ve looked like I was falling apart because her eyes softened, and her hand gently touched my arm.

“Oh no don’t cry… You’re safe here,” she whispered. “I mean It’s okay to cry, but you don’t have to. You’re not alone anymore.”

I wiped my tears and nodded then she took my hand and pulled me into her bathroom.

I had to stop and stare. Her bathroom was the most beautiful place I’d ever seen. There was a huge bathtub, porcelain white, sitting under a frosted window. A full-length mirror stood to the side, and fluffy towels were stacked neatly on a heated rack. There were plants and candles by the sink.

I’d only seen bathtubs in magazines. At Frost Fang all I got was a rusted shower with cold water half the time. But I’d

always imagined what it’d be like to just soak in a warm bath.

Lyra seemed to know exactly what I was thinking. She smiled and knelt beside the tub, turning the knobs and testing

the water with her hand.

“Here. I’ll make it nice and warm for you.” I stepped closer, watching the steam rise. As the water filled the tub, she walked off to a shelf to grab something. I bent low and turned up the heat of the water. I hoped to soak in the warmth for as long as possible.

When she finally turned to me she handed me a fluffy robe, and a towel. “Want a razor?” she asked casually.

I blinked. “A… what?”

“A razor, for shaving. You know, legs, armpits… stuff like that.”

I shook my head. “I’ve never used one.”

She frowned slightly, but not in a judgmental way. Just like she was sad for me.

“That’s okay,” she said softly, reaching into the drawer. “I’ll show you, if you want. It’s really easy, just takes a bit of care.” She smiled again and pulled out a new pink razor and a can of shaving cream. “Alright, first things first, you want to soak in the warm water a little, it softens the hair and opens up the pores so it doesn’t irritate your skin.”

She knelt beside the tub and showed me how to spread the shaving cream along my leg. “You want a thin layer, not too thick. Just enough to cover the area.”

I nodded, watching closely as she demonstrated with slow, careful movements.I noted how shaving cream smelled like roses.

“Then you take the razor and start from your ankle, moving gently upward in short strokes. Rinse the blade under the water after every few swipes. Like this.” She mimed the motion in the air.

I looked down at the razor in her hand, then at my leg. “And it doesn’t… hurt?”

“Not if you’re careful. Don’t press too hard. Just let the blade glide. And if you’re nervous, you can try a small patch first.”

“Okay.” I took the razor from her and tried it on a tiny spot just above my ankle. I held my breath. But when I wiped the cream away, my skin looked smooth. I glanced up at her.

“You’re doing great,” she said warmly. “Just go slow.”

“Thank you” I said, slowly.

“Well, if there’s anything you want, feel free to use whatever you need. I’ve got extra shampoo, soaps, lotion, just look around, use whatever you like”

Then she turned toward the door.

“I’ll leave you alone for a bit. This whole floor is only accessible to the Beta’s family so you don;t have to worry

about anyone else getting in. Oh, and my mom said she would make some sandwiches for you. I’ll go see if they’re ready.” With that she closed the door and left me some privacy.

The silence felt like a gift. I’m not used to talking to people for long periods of time, mainly because no one wanted to talk to me in the first place. Having someone as energetic and kind as Lyra around… it was a little overwhelming. But I could tell she meant well. Her chatter wasn’t just noise, it was her way of trying to lift me out of the pit of self pity I’ d been sinking into all all my life.

I peeled off my clothes and stepped into the tub. The warm water wrapped around me instantly, seeping into my skin and my bones. It was the first time in years I felt my body begin to relax on its own. I didn’t want to linger too long. They’d been generous already. While washing my hair I realized I was crying silently.

Lyra was kinder than anyone I’ve met in the last eight years. And I’d barely known her for a full day. She talked to me like I was a person. Like I mattered. I found myself hoping, maybe I could ask for her contact info before I left.

I rinsed off and stepped out, quickly drying off and pulling on the towel she’d left. As I opened the door, I spotted her sitting on the edge of her bed, chatting with someone. The woman beside her turned when she noticed me. It was Vanessa, Beta Miles’ mate.

Lyra smiled. “Hey, you’re just in time. Mom made sandwiches. They’re really good, I swear she makes the best sand- wiches ”

Vanessa stood and handed me a fairly large bag. “New underwear,” she explained. “We keep a few extras in the house since Lyra’s always burning through her clothes with her double showers. So I always stock up on extra clothes when they’re on sale. Frugal, not cheap,” she added with a wry smile.

I couldn’t help but smile back. When I turned to the bed, I saw pajamas laid out for me too. Not just that. Two boxes of shoes were tucked at the foot. My chest tightened a little. It was… too much.

Vanessa shrugged lightly. “I didn’t know your size, so I just got a couple options.”

“I wear a 10.5” I responded absentmindedly. I was too focused on the sheer amount of kindness I was being share- powered with. “You didn’t have to do all this,” I added quietly.

“I never planned on staying,” I said and turned to face them “I just want to apologize to your Alpha for trespassing… and then I’ll move to a human city and start a life there. I really don’t want to burden you and your family.”

Vanessa didn’t respond right away. Instead, she stepped closer and pulled me into a gentle hug. It caught me off guard. I froze for a second before cautiously hugged her back.

She pulled back and looked up at me with a soft but serious expression. “I hope you’ll reconsider,” she said. “This pack… it’s not like what you’ve known. I think you could fit in here. perfectly Selene.”

I didn’t know what to say. No one had ever told me I belonged before.

“Besides” She continued “The human world’s dangerous. Especially for a young lady such as yourself.”

She gave my arm a squeeze. “Get some rest tonight. No big decisions now. Just sleep. Tomorrow’s a new day.”

I nodded faintly, unsure how to respond.

“And I’ve given Lyra the day off tomorrow,” Vanessa added. “So she can help you settle in and get used to the new environment.” I nod again.

Vanessa smiled and turned to her daughter. “And you, you better not keep her up all night, she needs rest” She pulled Lyra into a hug and gave her a soft kiss on the forehead. “I won’t, goodnight mommy” Lyra said.

The scene stung me deep in my chest and it made me realize how much I craved intimacy like that. I turned away quickly. I didn’t want Lyra to see the tears building again. I’d already cried once tonight.

But somehow, she noticed the change in my mood and without a word, Lyra came up beside me and wrapped her arm around my shoulders in a side hug. She leaned her head a little on mine and said brightly, “Guess what? Since you’re spending the night with me we’re gonna have a proper sleepover.”

“I don’t usually get to do sleepovers,” she continued. “Most girls only pretend to be my friend because they want to get close to my brother. It’s always so obvious and it’s very annoying.”

I blinked at her, stunned by her honesty. I didn’t know what to say. It had been so long since someone wanted to be around me.

Before I could protest, she started adding more pillows and blankets to her bed creating a cozy corner at the head of her bed. After she was done she patted the space next to her. “Come on, we’re gonna have a girl talk.”

I hesitated, then climbed in beside her. I realised that the reason Lyra was acting this was because she was trying to cheer me up and get my mind off all that had happened. She’s by far the nicest person I’ve ever met. Her kindness made me resent my family all the more and I wondered why the moon goddess allowed me to be born there in the first place.

“So…” she began, rolling onto her side to face me. “What’s your wolf’s name?”

“Aurora,” I whispered.

She gasped. “That’s such a beautiful name! I love it.”

Inside my head, Aurora wagged her tail happily, she already liked Lyra as much as I did. Lyra kept talking, she told me stories about her life and things she had an interest in.

“High school was weird. There was this really cute boy and he always looked at me funny, but I had a huge crush on him, so I thought….”

Somewhere between her telling me about her fifth high school crush, my eyes grew heavy. Her voice was soothing and I felt myself relax and I slowly drifted off to sleep. Maybe the future could be bright here. I decided to give it a chance. I’m in a much better place than where I started and I just hope it ends well.
