Abandoned Luna’s Revenge Novel Ch 9
I shouted in rage and swept every damn paper off my desk sending them crashing uselessly to the floor. “This is a dis- aster!” I yelled, my voice echoing through the cold, high-ceilinged office.
Cassandra stood in the corner, her arms wrapped tightly around herself. I could see her eyes brimming with tears. She flinched as if I might throw something her way next, but I didn’t.
“Wipe those tears,” I snapped, waving a hand at her like she was a servant. “You don’t get to cry. This is all your fault.”
“Stop blaming me every time a plan doesn’t go the way you expect,” she said, “That’s not how you speak to your mate.”
I let out a bitter laugh, “Oh ho! So because you’re my mate, that somehow absolves you from all responsibility?” I stepped toward her slowly, shaking my head. “Don’t make me laugh. You may be my mate, Cassandra, but this mess? All of it? It’s still your fault.”
She folded her arms across her chest. “Mind you, you’re the one who approached me first. Don’t act like you didn’t know what you were getting into”
I laughed again, darker this time. “How on earth could I have known any of this would happen? If I had precognition, I wouldn’t have made half the damn choices I did and that includes meeting you.”
“It’s a fact,” I continued, pointing at her “you bring more trouble than you’re worth. I chose you because you were one of the most beautiful she-wolves I’d ever seen. That’s all it took. I made a mistake, clearly. One the Moon God- dess has been punishing me for ever since.”
I turned away then, muttering under my breath. “If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t make the same choice.”
“You really want to say that to me?” she asked, “Every time we make a decision together and something goes wrong, it’s always my fault.”
I spun around and walked back toward her slowly, my hands clenching at my sides. “Yes, we plan things together. I never denied that. But when it’s time for the punishment, who get;s punished? Huh? Who?” I didn’t wait for her to an- swer “It’s me! It’s always me!”
I turned around and walked to the wine cabinet, poured myself a glass, and held it without drinking. Then I turned back toward her. “And at the time I met you,” I said, voice quieter now, “you knew the full story yet you never thought to tell me.”
Eighteen years ago, I attended the Werewolf Fall Ball, I was young and in my prime. A lot of women wanted me, but

I turned down all the ones that approached me at the ball. They were either known sluts or not nearly as beautiful as
I’d liked.
The evening had dulled my interest, and I was getting ready to leave when I caught sight of her. The most beautiful she wolf I had ever seen, sitting dejectedly in the courtyard outside.
I walked to her table, drawn in before I even realized it. When I reached her, I didn’t say a word at first. I took her hand gently and kissed her wrist. I knew we weren’t fated mates, but I was willing to make her my chosen mate.
“I’m Dorian Ashford, Alpha of Frost Fang.” I said softly, “And you’re far too lovely to be crying alone.”
She seemed to smile for a moment, but soon after the sadness returned. “It’s nice to meet you, Alpha Dorian, I’m
Isadora”
“Such a beautiful name” I said, leaning in close “But what has troubled you? Why are you in tears?”
“My mate… my fated one… he has nothing to offer me besides love and empty promises, but I want more than. I de- serve more.” She looked away, almost ashamed. “You must think me vain for speaking of my fated mate in such a
manner.”
“Quite the contrary my dear” I said with a smile “I think it’s bold of you that you’re willing to defy customs in pursuit of what you want”
I took her hand again and raised her chin up so she could look me in the eyes. “If your mate can not give you what you want, I’ll have you know that I’m searching for a mate too.”
Her brows lifted slightly, as she realized where I was going with this. But she didn’t pull her hand away.
“If you accept me,” I continued, “I’ll mark you here. Now. I’ll give you everything he can’t. Wealth. Respect. Power. You’ll never have to want for anything again.”
She stared at me long and hard. “I know what this means,” I said. “But sometimes fate gets it wrong.”
The courtyard felt still. Like time itself paused, waiting for her answer. And then… she nodded. “Do it.”
We didn’t waste another second. I leaned forward, brushing her hair aside to bare the spot just below her neck. My ca- nines extended and as I bit down and marked her, I felt her body tremble in my arms,
The moment I marked her, I heard distant howls of pain echoing just outside. It was probably her fated mate feeling the effects of my mark.
We didn’t have time. I told her we needed to leave immediately. If her fated mate came and covered my mark with his own, it would unravel everything. I grabbed her hand as we rushed toward the exit.
And that’s when I saw him. Alpha Kieran Black. He stumbled through the ballroom door, gripping the frame weakly. His eyes were wild with pain and disbelief. I knew I couldn’t beat Kieran in a fair fight.
I soon realized my folly, I had failed to ask the woman what her name was and most importantly I had failed to ask
her who her mate was.

I called my Beta through the mind link and told him to get a car ready plus a few of my best warriors.

We rushed past Kieran and when he reached out to grab her, I kicked him in his chest, and he hit the floor with a grunt. I didn’t stop to look back. I just pulled her to the car and slammed the door behind us as we drove off.
The next day, Kieran arrived at Frost Fang’s gates. He demanded to see Cassandra. He asked that she come out and accept his rejection, so he could sever the last tie between them. But before he spoke the words, he gave her one warning. If she was pregnant with his child… he would take it back.
Cassandra had said nothing about sleeping with him. And after their rejection, I chose to believe she hadn’t slept with
him.
One month later, she told me she was pregnant and that she was expecting twins.
I was overwhelmed. It felt like the Moon Goddess herself had smiled on our union, despite us not being fated. But fate has a cruel way of twisting knives.
When she went into labor, I waited outside the birthing room with trembling hands. The healer emerged, smiling, and called me in. And there they were.
Two babies. The first child was a Brunette with deep Green eyes. I knew immediately that it wasn’t my blood. I knew the child belonged to Kieran
I never wanted to give Selene to Kieran, in a way I wanted to make him pay for having sex with my chosen mate. The nerve. I couldn’t challenge Kieran directly, so I took out my frustration on his spawn.
The second child was mine. That one, I couldn’t deny. The moment I laid eyes on her and saw her stormy blue eyes and blond hair I knew she was mine. I spoiled her, doted on her, gave her everything she wanted.
We tried to have another child after that. I wanted to try for a boy but nothing worked. Not with Cassandra. Not with the other women I slept with either. Nothing. No pregnancies.
That’s when I started to wonder if the Moon Goddess had cursed me. Punishing me for what I did to Kieran. For what
I stole.
Meanwhile, Kieran’s new mate gave him two strong male cubs. Two. It was clear the goddess herself was mocking
The news of Kieran’s fortune made me angrier and I vowed to never let him find out about Selenel. Which was why I had told the werewolf council that one of my twins died in the hospital shortly after birth. A tragic accident. It was convenient and believable. That way, only Sylvia could be the rightful heir to the pack and no one would question it. I wouldn’t dare let the daughter of a Shadow blade wolf rule over my pack.
In other to protect the lie I had to keep Selene basically imprisoned in the pack, she was never allowed to leave. And For eighteen years, we trapped her here. Only Sylvia was allowed to be seen. And when Sylvia tried to kill her… I warned her not to try it again. I couldn’t risk Selene being discovered due to a half arsed assasination attempt.
My hand trembled slightly as I reached for the whiskey again. Remembering the past always made me anxious. Cas- sandra came over and gently placed her hand on mine. “We’re in this together Dorian, but I need you to stay calm.”

she whispered. “There’s no way for anyone to know if Selene is actually Kieran’s. I’ll start a story and say that her dark hair from my father’s side of the family”
I looked into her eyes, surprised by how much I had grown to love them. I wrapped my arms around her and held her for a moment. Our nearly 19 year relationship went from purely transactional to true love.
She was right. We had to stay calm, this wouldn’t tarnish our image or reputation.
I was actually glad that I didn’t have to look at Selene’s face anymore. She reminded me too much of everything I did wrong. But now… now she was finally gone. I felt a twisted sense of relief.
Still, in the quiet of my mind, I’ll admit I made the wrong choice all those years ago. If I had only given Kieran his child I think I would be happier now.
